Sony isn’t abandoning Infamous

Infamous-Second-Son

Infamous: Second Son is easily one of my favourite PlayStation-exclusive games. An agile sandbox that allows you to murder faceless goons with the power of second-hand smoke, concrete and a neon light show, Infamous: Second Son was a damn good example of what the PlayStation 4 was capable of.

It also received a standalone expansion of sorts several months later, that shifted the action away from game protagonist Delsin Rowe to Abigail “Fetch” Walker. So when’s the next Infamous game then? While Second Son had a done-in-one story, there was still room to grow the tale of Rowe and pals further. But since First Light wrapped up, Sucker Punch’s premiere IP has been silent, with no future games announced.

Speaking to Kinda Funny Games on the future of the franchise, PlayStation boss Scott Rohde explained that no franchise would be left behind on that platform:

We’re never going to retire an IP. We’re always going to be open to [making more Infamous games]. That’s about the best way I can answer that.

While Sucker Punch has been mum on any future Infamous development, they haven’t exactly been slackers. Rohde confirmed that the studio has been plugging away on a new game, which he and PlayStation Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida played an early version of. I’m all for a new Infamous game whenever Sucker Punch is ready to do so.

As a fan of the power fantasy aspect of gaming, those sandboxes scratch my itch in just the right way.

I always thought that they could make a decent X-men game.

I mean they have a feel for making games where someone has super powers. Just not a Wolverine game. sIck and tired of everything X-men related needing to include Hugh Jackman

That’s because second son was made for the PS4 not the PS3 if it was PS3 it would be the same as the other two

I loved the first Infamous, and Second Son/First Light. I’m really keen to see what Sucker Punch doesn’t next.
