Mega Man is dead. Capcom’s blue bomber is still a fan-favourite, but for whatever reasons, Capcom’s slowly killed him off over the past few years. Just about every game that would have featured the robotic lemon-slinger has been cancelled – leaving it up to other companies, like Nintendo, to keep his memory alive. There’s still hope. Mega-Man creator successfully kick-started Mighty No 9, a game that Mega Man in everything but name. It’s getting a retail release.

Yesterday, publisher Deep Silver announced that it had struck up a publishing deal with developer Comcept to bring the game to shops, in addition to its originally planned digital distribution release.

That’s not all though! With the publishing agreement, comes a bit of extra content. Physical versions of the game will include the game’s planned DLC, which includes an extra stage and a boss. And to ensure that those who helped fund the game aren’t pissed off by it all, that same DLC will be free to backers as well.

“This is a great opportunity for Comcept: The partnership enables us to deliver Mighty No. 9 to a wider audience while adding some great extra value to the game,” says Keiji Inafune, CEO, Comcept. “This comes with the price of a short delay, but we are confident that the extra content is worth the wait.”
“The incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign for Mighty No. 9 through Keiji Inafune and his team has shown how huge their fan base is and how much anticipation there is for a true spiritual successor of classic side-scrolling action games. Deep Silver is proud to publish this game and help Comcept in bringing their vision to life,” comments Klemens Kundratitz, CEO, Deep Silver.

The game, which features a very Mega Man-esque protagonist who runs through a series of Mega Man-esque levels before fighting Mega Man-esque bosses is coming to consoles and Pc in mid-September, with handheld versions coming at a later date.

I can’t wait.

That second paragraph makes no sense.
“Yesterday, publisher Deep Silver announced that it had struck up a publishing deal with publisher Deep Silver”?
