ZombiU death toll now numbers in the thousands

Ello ello ello wot's all this then?

When it comes to games that combine zombies, horror and survival themes into one package, ZombiU is the title that set the bar way above your delicious braaaaaaaaainss…The game is hard, harder than trying to stay awake during a presidential address. And it’s claimed almost as many lives as well (citation needed).

ZombiU has a simple hook in it, in that death is a permanent feature which leaves your unlucky survivor as one of the walking dead. Quite a few people have suffered this fate on the Wii U so far, to the tune of over 300 000.

“We’re having a lot of fun doing this. And we have many ideas to get this ball rolling,” Ubisoft Montpellier’s Guillaume Brunier to the Nintendo World Report via NintendoLife of the developer’s continued online support of the title.

One in particular is about our 300,000 plus zombified friends stored on our servers. Who knows what we could do with them.

The game has a tight community so far, through the Miiverse and the messages left in the game itself by other players and Ubisoft itself, something that has turned it into a bit of a cult hit. “We wanted to be able to surprise players by being very close to them,” Brunier said of the various messages scattered throughout the game.

And I am still struggling to get through this game. Not because of difficulty or design challenges, but because I am legitimately too damn scared to do more than a mission at a time. I’ve yet to get to the “Circus” level that Geoff mentioned, but whenever I ask him for details, he merely giggles and walks away. Bastard.
