Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal: Clash Duel Carnival heads to 3DS

IT'S TIME TO D D D D D D DUEL!

Ha! I activate my trap card! Least comments or craps given about an article! KAAAAAAAIBA! It’s been over two years since Konami announced a new Yu Gi Oh game, with the previous being Over the Nexus. Since then, children’s card games between grown men has been a suspiciously quiet genre. Until this week that is.

A scan from the latest issue of Jump magazine has revealed that the next Yu Gi Oh game will be known as Clash Duel Carnival, and will be a full Nintendo 3DS game. This will be the first proper tie-in to the recent Zexal anime series, so expect the new XYZ monsters to debut here. There’ll be over 5500 cards and 40 playable characters for this particular incarnation.

Konami has done a decent job with the franchise. They’ve made it the most comprehensive series of games to date with all the monsters, spells and trap cards available, but the games aren’t perfect. If you’re a newcomer, expect a ridiculously steep learning curve, as well as an AI that never makes a mistake and always seems to draw the right card.

Still, while I’m not the biggest fan of the anime (CARD GAMES ON MOTORCYCLES), the actual trading card game itself is still pretty rad. So naturally, I’m pretty damn excited.

What? Don’t judge me. Most of you are playing Animal Crossing New Leaf anyway.

  1. I’m with you. The anime wasn’t that good, but the card game itself is awesome. I still have my deck laying around and dust it off to challenge my lil bro(20) every so often.

Back when Jinzo was bannable or limited I had to switch to Ancient Gears to make up for the loss. Today the game is completely different.
