TEW assignment DLC

I wasn’t thoroughly impressed with The Evil Within. There were absolutely excellent moments in the game, but much of it felt predictable or repetitive. With a new DLC coming soon, we might get more insight into the actual story of the game, and we are promised some all-new gameplay.

Here is the official gameplay trailer for the DLC, The Assignment:

If you have completed The Evil Within, you might still have a bunch of questions about Sebastian’s lady partner, Juli Kidman. Some of those questions will be answered while a whole variety of new questions could be raised with the first part of Kidman’s DLC adventure.

Taking the role of Kidman, The Assignment features an increased focus on stealth gameplay mechanics as you untangle the secrets of what happened to her and untangle the truth behind her connection with Mobius. Introducing new enemies and gameplay tactics, The Assignment sets the stage for the concluding chapter of Kidman’s Adventure, The Consequence, releasing later this Spring.

I think this could be a way better experience – I found The Evil Within at its best when it was focused on stealth. When I was shooting everyone the game just wasn’t as tense. Perhaps a DLC that’s story and stealth oriented is exactly what the game needs. Of course, we’ll only find out when the DLC releases in Europe on 11 March 2015.

Did you pick up this survival horror experience over the holidays? Did it scare you out of your mind, or did you also find that the scary moments were just too scattered amidst an otherwise average experience? And are you actually curious to play as Kidman, or are you holding out to play with the Keeper in the last DLC?
