While the range of players from the DGL were battling it out over the weekend at the Dome, an even larger tournament was taking place at the Staples Center – the Grand Finals of League of Legends. The final saw the Koreans battling the Chinese as SK Telecom T1 took on Royal Club.
Okay, so for those who missed the games, here they are. Prepare to sit through a ton of commentary, though, or skip ahead about half an hour. But, that could just be me – I’m not a big fan of sports commentary in general. Here are the videos of the games.
For those who don’t want to watch, I think the mere fact that there are only three videos proves the fact that the series was swept. Three straight wins with some pretty quick victories. In fact, the games were not particularly long, with victory within reach pretty early on. For more details, check out the spoilers:
The first game saw SK Telecom dominate over Royal Club with 18 kills and 9 turrets compared to RC’s 9 kills and 2 turrets. By landing some early kills and turrets, SKT gained some important gold early on in the game – after only 10 minutes they had a significant advantage. The next two games followed in a similar vein.
SKT beat RC in game 2 with 30 kills and 10 turrets compared to 19 kills and only one turret. In game 3, that differential was even greater – SKT managed 12 kills and 11 turrets while RC only scraped away with 2 kills and 2 turrets. The level of play was incredibly high, but in the end, RC simply couldn’t compare with SKT.
The winners took home the $1 million prize money, and the knowledge that they are the best LoL players in the world. Of course, Season 4 kicks off in January again – I hope the guys enjoy the honor for the few months that they can!
