What’s the point of Assassin’s Creed Americas Collection?

Merica edition

We already know that we’ll be taking Paris by storm during the French Revolution in Assassin’s Creed Unity later this year. Assassin’s Creed Rogue will finish off the Kenway saga, finalizing the events in the Americas and wrapping up the story. However, Ubisoft is releasing a collection of all the games in the Americas, but I’m wondering at whom this is targeted.

Releasing 28 October 2014, Assassin’s Creed The Americas Collection will be available on Xbox 360 and PS3. The collection will include Assassin’s Creed III, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD. For those who don’t know or remember, Assassin’s Creed III features the most boring character in the AC franchise, Connor, who made us wish we could use the hidden blade on our own character. AC IV: Black Flag was a whole lot more fun, but it’s not nearly as impressive on older generation consoles as it is on the newer ones.

AC: Rogue will be coming to older generation consoles only, and I can’t help but feel that Ubisoft is jumping the gun on this collection. Surely it would be better to wait until Rogue is released and then create this ‘mericas bundle for fans to own all the games that took place in North America? Now it feels like a box set that’s missing the final episode – who would want this? Perhaps it’s targeted at those people who are planning to pick up Assassin’s Creed Rogue but haven’t played the previous games. However, I can’t imagine there would be many people like that out there – why would someone be amped for Rogue if they haven’t at least played Black Flag? We also don’t know if this collection comes with all the DLC or if that will still be extra.

What do you guys think? Is this a nice collection for those people who left off the Assassin’s Creed franchise with ACII and want to find out what happened before diving into Unity? Is this a collection that you’d like to own?

Well, if I didn’t have AC3 I would have bought it. And Connor isn’t boring, he’s stoic. 😛

Connor is the worst character I have played in my life. All the complaining and whining ruined the game for me.

I agree, I liked Connor, and the hunting was fun as well. The crafting was the only thing I didn’t much care for.

A while back I was buying a lot of coffee & milk for the office @ PnP, woman in the queue behind me says I’m buying a lot, told her that sometimes I get thirsty. Look on her face was priceless haha.

The combat is dreadful, it feels like I am connected to the character by a piece of string, its so unnatural, thats whats got me very worried with Shadow of Mordor, it looks similar.

Bit pointless especially with the Anthology collection that is available.

I’m playing through the anthology collection, currently in Brotherhood. Very good value for money.

I wouldn’t buy it. I’m hoping they’ll do AC set in feudal Japan, that would be bloody good.
