Or at least, his real-life counterpart director and podcaster Kevin Smith, is in the game. To the Blunt-Cave Hemp Knight!
Lego games may follow a rather similar pattern year after year, but let it not be said that these games don’t cater to fans. Take for instance the inclusion of Smith in the game. He’s pretty much one of the biggest Batman fans out there, and pretty much responsible for a very rad childhood of mine thanks to movies such as Clerks, Mallrats, Dogma and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. And possibly the upcoming Tusk.
Whether or not Smith is completely baked in his cameo appearance, remains to be seen.
Other Lego Batman 3 guests include the Green Arrow himself, Stephen Amell, DC Comics chief creative officer and writer of some damn good Superman stories Geoff Johns and Troy Baker as the Batman/Bruce Wayne. That’s obviously terrible casting along the lines of Batfleck, because dammit, my squeaky horrible to understand voice should have been sampled for this game instead. Not some seasoned professional. Some guys have all the luck after they commit themselves to working in an industry, I tells ya.
But back to Smith. I’m a massive fan of his work, and especially his podcasts which get me through a day. If you don’t already, give the Smodcast network a go, and listen to one of his many, many shows that he has available for free. The man is as I mentioned, a jolly big fan of Batman. And its small touches like this, that I kind of dig.
