Warframe

Hi, my name is Martha Cabbage, and I’m a hopeless Warframe addict! I’ve been playing the game for a few months now, and It still surprises me that not many people seem to know about it. When attempting to enlighten friends of mine, I always ask the same two questions. Do you like space? Do you like ninjas? If you answered yes to both of these, then you may want to try Warframe out, because SPACE NINJAS!

While the game has not officially been launched (it’s still in beta), it has been playable on PC and PS4 for quite some time now. Planning on getting the Xbox One? The game has just been released for the new gen Microsoft console.

Just to bring you up to speed, a Warframe is the exoskeleton/suit your character wears which aids them in all the combat they do. Like what you eyeballs see? You can do just about everything seen in the trailer. Shooting, slicing, flipping, wall running, and not to mention all the abilities the various Warframes have. There are also dozens of weapons to play with, and even more mods which can be used to buff them.

I’m not even kidding though… anybody who plays the game describes it simply as ‘Space Ninjas’. It is a little more than that. You take the role of a Tenno, an ancient being who has been in a deep slumber spanning several centuries. Space is not the friendly place it once was. The Tenno have to deal with several factions who are out to wreak all sorts of havoc. Missions take place over several planets, all with their own unique look and feel.

The game is entirely free to play, with the option of spending money on various items if you wish to speed up the process. I’ve sunk in dozens of hours, and I can confidently say that while farming some items may be time consuming, it is a lot of fun. There is nothing on the market that you can’t acquire in game somehow. I’ve spent $20 over the past few months, and I have zero regrets. The developers have given me many hours of ninja goodness!

At least those looking to adopt the Xbox One will have something to look forward to if they can’t afford a bunch of games on launch. Warframe is highly awesome, highly addictive. Play it at your own risk!

Yay , now they can also wait for days on end while that gun you spent hours looting parts for finishes crafting. Or you know… use micro-transactions. Except for that I recommend it. It really is fun.

Combining two likes don’t always work out. I like naked women and I also like calamari but I have not really taken a liking to naked women being violated by squid.

Well maybe if hentai had a decent story … scratch that. I am one of the few people who can’t even watch that HBO porno with a story. Yeah I am looking at you Game of Thrones.

I’ve actually played a hentai game with a good story and good gameplay, although I didn’t realize it was a hentai game until the “kissing” started (I did suspect when I got a choice between the 3 heroines but still thought it would just end up being a VN).
I actually haven’t played it since.

            I’m not addicted to gaming.
I can stop whenever I want.
I’m not playing any games right now…
Mostly because people can see my screen and I haven’t got an updated version of FTL installed…
But I could still choose not to play if I wanted to.

So you read the first book only? 😉 I’ll start reading the books once he writes the last one. I got caught by Robert Jordan.

I started watching the series last weekend, I’m quite enjoying it – although yes the boobs and associated parts can get a bit gratuitous at times.

            September 2, 2014 at 13:40

I read the first 3 books, then got tired of the uncertain release schedule and gave up on the series.

Warframe is a brilliant game! And like young Martha says how the hell not more people know about it is beyond me. Developers are always updating the game, adding new content, new trophies, etc. It has just undergone a massive facelift, which as a veteran takes getting use to but newbies would probably love it.

I have happily paid over the equivalent of a new game in in-game stuff – having spent 60 hours with it now I can hardly begrudge the developers their fair dues.

Haven’t played it in a couple of weeks except to go and see the changes they made in the new update. There is some cool weaponry in the game. I spend a good time agonising over which mods to take on board to maximise the weapons efficiency.

It was a lot of fun, you’ve still got time if you want to give it a go because it ends on the 4th. First reward is an event badge, then 4 ice-based dual-power mods, then the latron wraith & a custom skin for some other weapon.

They’re called excavation missions, fairly similar to mobile defense missions – you have to find a scanner on some pretty big levels, once that thing is found it scans for an excavation site, once it finds one you head off to there & deploy an excavator which you have to defend & keep powered up & collect a new resource – and you keep them powered up by killing certain enemies who have power packs. Rinse & repeat until the enemies are too high powered for you to handle.

YES…see my post below. It is a little clunky I agree, but it is great fun once you know what you doing. Hook me up on PS4 and perhaps we can play together.

And plan ahead – you are probably many, many updates behind so could take a while to download everything.

I played warframe the whole of last night.

It’s pretty awesome, reminds me a lot of Destiny weirdly enough. There is a huge difference between the first PS4 release and the current iteration. They have made a lot of improvements around the UI and “Codex” / Help system. I replayed the prologue, which now actually makes sense and introduces the Ship and components such as the foundry.

I am most impressed…. though unnerved at how similar it is to Destiny…
