The Evil Within demo

The Evil Within was a pretty good game. It didn’t blow me away, but it certainly offered some fun gameplay at times. If you’re still curious but don’t want to commit to spending the money, Bethesda has you covered… on PC.

Over on Steam, you can now pick up The Evil Within demo for free. The demo contains the first three chapters of the game for free. What I think is particularly cool is that if you choose to purchase the game after those first three chapters, your progress will be saved. Plus, as an added bonus, you’ll get a free copy of Call of Cthulhu.

The first three chapters give a decent idea of some of the gameplay, although experiences from the first chapter aren’t really repeated and there isn’t the usual caliber of boss battles in these early chapters. Still, if you’re curious for the feel of the game, you can certainly give it a try with the demo and decide for yourself. It will probably offer at least a couple hours (if not way more depending on skills) of gameplay.

I love demo offerings, I miss them for other games. I can watch tons of trailers, check out plenty of images and articles but it’s only when I play the game myself that I can tell if it’s actually any fun. Demos used to be so prevalent – everyone wanted to prove that their game was excellent and worth your money, but now they seem to have almost disappeared. I hope the demo helps to drive some sales for The Evil Within and makes a comeback.

I hate that so few demos are released lately. Is it because developers are more interested in the hype-train than actually putting out decent content? Are they worried that people will go “hmmm… this is actually pretty terrible”?

Blame the work model of Destiny for setting the benchmark of all things to come.
Making $500 million from pre-orders is the future. Only gamers buy shit that does not exist yet.

      Reminds me…

RUNS TO PRE-ORDER The Witcher 3.

Stock brokers who specialise in speculation buy and sell shares and products that don’t currently exist from companies that may not have been created yet.

I remember a while back one of the big pubs, I think it was EA, said they’re not releasing demos because they found it actually reduced sales.

A demo only after release of the game. Makes me think that the game is not that good. Is the first part of the game not the best. The part that’s in the demo. So you don’t really need to buy the game after playing the demo. Unless they trying to trick you. Oh Halloween, trick or treat.

Yahtzee has been getting soft lately… Or Maybe I’m just so used to his style that I pick up when something is good to him….
