Titanfall now has even fewer game modes!

Titanfall from Respawn is a great shooter, filled with mech-dropping action. As a multiplayer-only game, it was criticised – when it was indeed criticized – for having too few game modes. and now, on the Pc at least, it has even fewer. Respawn has removed the Capture the Flag and Pilot Hunt modes from the game’s ranked playlists.

Respawn has said that the two modes will still be available to play via Private Matches and Variety, but if you want to rank up, you’re out of luck. It’s not that big a deal though, nobody was playing those mdoes on PC, which is why they’ve been axed.

“We have an amazing and large PC audience with the vast majority of users predominantly playing Attrition and Hardpoints game modes,” Respawn said on its blog. “CTF and Pilot Hunter have not been widely used modes on the PC version, so players trying to access these modes had overlong wait times to find other users and it was making for a poor experience.

“We want to make sure that not only is there compelling content in the playlists we offer, but that the experience of joining a match works well. We’re tracking what playlists players are choosing, and we’re going to continue to look at unpopular playlists and add new ones on both platforms.”

Truth is everybody’s really playing Hard Point and Attrition, and the modes that are being excised just weren’t very much fun to play on the maps available. It’s no big loss to anybody.

Respawn is currently working on new game modes, and developing new takes on the old modes to keep the game fresh and exciting.

“Our goal is to have a wide variety of playlists that are popular and changing,” the studio continued. “That said, we will not remove modes from Private Matches, so there will always be the option to select them for competitive and personal play.”

I stopped playing Titanfall ages ago due to work commitments, and to be honest, there’s very little about the game that’s calling me back. I think there’s a a very real possibility of imminent onset of Titanfall fatigue, which is possible why EA’s been selling the game at 40% off on Origin this weekend.

Should have used a rotary switch. That way they can flip it & do 180s.

CTF was never a good idea for Titanfall. Capturing a flag as a pilot became kinda difficult when there were two giant robots defending it.

Game is still fun as hell to play.

Heh. I remember when EA first launched Origin & the dipshit in charge still bragged about how they’d never put games on sale because that “devalued” games. Funny how things change.

No. After you buy the DLC, wait for 5GB to download and install, you will find one mode left: Death match…

XBOX One, price drop. Titanfall, price drop. XBOX Live, gives more games. Methinks there be sleepless investors.

Do you now how long it would take me to get a match in those game types a week after it was released? I never ever saw more than two other people join the match, that’s how long!

They may as well get rid of all the other game modes too as the only game mode anyone ever plays is Attrition.

So I say to all those who are now complaining that they’re gone…You should of fing played them ya numb nuts!!!

We all play with 200 ms ping, and honestly, it’s barely noticeable.

Sorry mate , I play battle field 4 with 63 other human players ( ha ha couldn’t resist that ) with about 11 to 35 ms ping . So um , what are u playing ? And why would u play with more than 150 ms of ping in a fps ?

I’m referring specifically to Titanfall. That’s the ping we get locally to their servers. I play other games at a much lower ping, but I’m saying that in TF, despite it being way higher, its nowhere near as noticeable as it sounds. A lot of the LG crew played in the beta, and they will tell you that it runs really well.

Aha , thank you and thank you for the insight , so the just of what u are saying is that it is passable experience , how Eva it could e better ? With less ping etc

Truth be told , I am over Titan fall , looks epic and all , but I am not jumping through hoops to play this game … It’s either Gana work like it should or I won’t play it and it’s 1 game mode by the sounds of it

Except for the people who liked to play those modes. Hell, either CTF or Pilot Hunter are way better than Last Titan Standing. Respawn is doing a very poor job of managing the PC version of Titanfall.
