Tim Schafer, the funny fellow who brought you Costume Quest, Brutal Legend – and was behind classic gems like Full Throttle, Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle has started talking about a possible sequel to one of his other famed classics – Psychonauts.

For those of you who haven’t played it – it was a wildly imaginative, silly, hilarious and difficult action adventure platform, set in the subconscious. For those who have, you’d be delighted to know that Tim Schaefer is up for making a sequel!

"I’m ready to do it. I’d love to do it. It’s really a question of getting a publisher who’s interested in doing it." Although the game – like so many of Schafer’s offerings – was a cult hit, it didn’t set sales charts ablaze. It has gotten more exposure in recent years though – thanks to Steam sales and online piracy. "Over the years it’s gotten into the hands of a lot of people, through being two dollars on Steam for a while, and being pirated.” "So it’s gotten out there. So if all these people were going to buy the sequel it would be a big hit," added Schafer.

Ron Gilbert, fellow Monkey Island co-designer and Deathspank creator recently joined Schafer’s Double Fine, and they’ve revealed they’re working on a new project. Could it be Psychonauts 2?

I see it like this… He’s made this information public. He’s trying to rally the fans of the first one to make some noise and get a publisher interested.

I see through his ruse! ^_~ But he still has my support! ^_^
