Thief gets rated for violence and sexual content

I have no idea who this person is under the hood please don't sue me

We’re pretty lax here in South Africa when it comes to video games. Sure, they’ve got content that the FPB is all too happy to slap a big age rating sticker on when it arrives, but at least our government trusts enough to allow us the option to have that content. And it looks like Thief is going to be a pretty mature game when it launches.

Over in the US of A, the Entertainment Software Rating Board detailed the more sordid side of the game, because plunging bladed weapons into foes using a first-person perspective is a rather violent way to burglarise homes:

This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a thief attempting to defeat a conspiracy. Players sneak around guards and civilians in order to break into various buildings and steal items. Players sometimes use a blackjack to knock guards out. Throughout the game, characters use knives and swords to kill other human enemies. Blood splatter effects occur during battle. Corpses are frequently depicted, sometimes lying in pools of blood.

Also, it looks like I may have to break out my massive bass guitar, because Thief is going to have plenty of ‘suggestive moaning’:

During the course of the game, players can roam through a brothel environment in which several prostitutes are depicted topless. The central character has the ability to spy on couples engaging in sexual activity (topless characters); suggestive moaning and dialogue can also be heard. Some settings depict opium vats or characters under the influence of the drug. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” can be heard in the dialogue.

The weird thing is that I moan suggestively when I browse stationary shops. Thief is out at the end of February, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. You’ll probably need to be 18 to play the game, but don’t worry, I know a guy who makes awesome fake IDs. Here’s what my one looks like:

I’m pretty sure the Thief has to use some smart thinking in the game to progress.

firstly I like to say you have inconclusive info,I don’t have the game, but honestly your are complaining about the violence in this game and the dialog contains sh*t and f**k, and that it should be rated AO, but seriously do you ever think we don’t swear. And as far as I am concerned your game has settings where you can mute the volume and turn off blood details and you can also skip cinematics. Like I said I don’t have the game, but it should have those.

I have forgotten that your only using 1 or 2 games, but have you checked other games. That is why I said inconclusive info. Your implying that other games are also as bad. Some of the restrictions is also inconclusive on the disc-cover on certain games, and also the parents must be in control when buying a game. Not like I am saying if they see Violence or language they shouldn’t buy it. The can buy it and check it out and from there decide on healthy judgement what to do. We are individuals what fun and cool is for an 5 year old is not fun and cool for a 10 year old. And children also must be exploited to violence and the parents must explain why, because it could have an effect if he/she is not exposed to it they don’t know how to handle it,and the tv channels are the same, you say games should be rated AO but what about your average tv channel. They also have violent films, stories and some films even have sexual content and they broadcast and you don’t complain about that.

I would also like to add it also depends on what you do with the game in a sense do you do what the game does or do you just play the game for entertainment
