These are your Summer of Arcade games

You can count on Microsoft to deliver some incredible downloadable games at least once a year; with its annual Summer of Arcade. Previous games released during the promotion have included Castle Crashers, Braid, ‘’Splosion Man, Trials HD, Shadow Complex, Limbo, Bastion – and well, you get the picture. these are pretty much the very best games available for the Xbox Live Arcade platform. Here are this years games – with release dates and prices.

In just about a month, you’ll be able to download:

  • Brothers: A Tale of two Sons launches August 7th for 1,200 Points
  • Charlie Murder launches August 14th for 800 Points
  • Flashback launches August 21st for 800 Points
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows launches August 28th for 1,200 Points

Hmm. That seems a little underwhelming, doesn’t it? Two games stand out, but it’s still the weakest Summer of arcade line-up yet.

Brothers: A Tale of two Sons has been compared by everyone who’s played it to be a magical blend of Fable and PSN exclusive The Journey, and is said to be one of this year’s indie darlings. Charlie Murder is the new game from the guys who brought you “The Dishwasher” and is inspired by those old arcade beat-em ups. Flashback has me less excited, because I don;t care much for remakes of games I’ve played to death, and the new Ninja turtles hasn’t piqued my interest at all.

Usually, buying all of the Summer of Arcade games would net you a free title, but this year all you’ll get is a Soul Pack for free to play RPG,  Ascend: Hand of Kul if you buy any two of them. What do you think? You keen on any of these?

Actually, Flashback has been on my list of shame since the 16-bit generation, so looking forward to playing it.

Coo but how many can us XBLA SA users expect to get? 1? less than 1. Maybe more than 0. Or are they going to blame the FPB as usual?

Time to call Sony and ask them how they get it right…
