Yes, there’s been a heck of a lot of Nintendo news today – but that’s because it’s all pretty awesome and certainly worth sharing. We’ve seen that the Wii U will be getting Virtual console, and had a look at the first-party titles headed to the system. Here now, is a look at some of the 3rd party stuff – including Bayonetta 2 and a new RPG from Monolith.

Though Iwata did say that Bayonetta 2, the Wii U exclusive to Platinum’s rather damned excellent combo-tastic HackeySlasher (that puts other games in the genre, like Devil May Cry, to absolute shame) wasn’t sufficiently far enough in development to divulge much in the way of details, he did share this little teaser.

Bayonettttttaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Another Platinum-developed title that’s on its way soon is the bizarre, but delightful looking Wonderful 101 – which is like a beautiful amalgamation of Viewtiful Joe and Pikmin.

Here’s something I didn’t see coming; a cross-over title from Atlus, bringing the shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem universes together. There’s been little of it actually shown  so we don’t really have any idea what to expect – though I’m hoping it leans a little more towards the tactical side.

I’m quickly starting to believe that Nintendo’s Wii U is going to become the  home of the JRPG, and quite possibly the best console for RPG’s in general. Take a look at this, the new RPG from Monolith. That “X” at the end more than likely means it’ll be tied in to Xenosaga, XenoBlade or Xenogears. It’s already made Garth faint.

That’s just what was shown yesterday, joining other 3rd party exclusives like Lego City: Undercover and the magnificent Rayman Legends and ZombiU.

We expect to see some pretty great things from Nintendo and the Wii U at E3 this year. while Microsoft and Sony will be showing off hardware that’s not out yet, Nintendo will be free to show off what matters: games.
