I’ve been digging laptops over the last couple of years. They’re compact, powerful and they make my job a heckuva lot easier when travelling. Now granted, I can’t play too many high level games on a laptop, because hardware. And cash. Which is what Razer’s new Blade laptop has. Except for the cash part in this analogy. Dammit, I just confused myself.
The latest laptop from Razer is being marketed as “the world’s thinnest gaming laptop”. It measures in with a 14 inch screen, and an overall width of 0.66 inches. That’s uh, that’s Ally McBeal thin.
The laptop also 8GB of DDR3L RAM, a 128 GB solid state drive that can be upgraded to 256 GB and 512 GB for an extra fee and as well as an Nvidia GeForce GTX 756M GPU. Oh, and a native resolution display of 1600 x 900.
“Thinner than a dime and more powerful than other traditional desktop replacements today, we’ve created an entirely new category of thin and powerful laptops that is generations ahead of other PCs,” Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan said in a press release via VG247.
So how much and when for this version of the Blade? $1800 (R18000) and June 6. However, if you happen to be an indie developer who just finished up a successful Kickstarter campaign, then good news! Razer will cut you a deal for a 17 inch version of the Blade with better hardware, and it’ll only cost you $1000 (R10 000).
Not too shabby. Now donate to my Kickstarter WW2 dogfight simulation game already dammit. It’s called “Biggles flies undone”. I want one of those laptops for myself.

That’s an attractive machine but I’ve never really understood the point of gaming laptops. Yes they’re portable, but so what? For 18k you can build a desktop with a Titan :/

When you say with a Titan? How does he use the small screwdrivers?
Trevor Davies

He doesn’t, he stands there & supervises. Damn Titans, always think they know better. And then they want to sulk if you tell them to get lost. “If you don’t put it together the way I tell you I’m going to destroy the world!” Such drama queens.

That’s true, I just think it defeats the point of having a portable machine if you need to have all that other stuff too, plus a power point because I bet battery life won’t be great if you’re playing Far Cry 3.

Never underestimate the power of portability… 🙂
It’s come in handy for me on many occasions… Auto dj my gig and have a game while the crowd is dancing is mischievously enjoyable…

Yes awesome tech that uses proprietary drivers that data mine your PC. Oh and those drivers will give you the boot if you are not online. Awesome tech is awesomely sneaky.

some 4th gen intel processor, it doesn’t say exactly what it is on the site, so i don’t see how lg can put it on this article with much confidence.
