I’ve got a pre-order for a PlayStation 4, though I honestly have no idea why. There’s very little in the launch line-up that I actually want to play. There’s maybe, maybe Killzone: Shadow Fall – but I’m not a big fan of shooters. There was Watch Dogs, but we know that that’s been delayed. And it looks like another one of the system’s launch titles might only be released next year.
According to a number of sneaky sources from all over the internet, PS4 launch racer DriveClub may be delayed to next year.
The rumour started with "an anonymous source" telling The Same Coin that Evolution Studio’s DriveClub, originally set to launch alongside the PS4, has been delayed to next year. "Treat this as 100% rumour for now," they say. "Hopefully it will turn out to be false." Another ninja source, however, confirmed the delay with Kotaku.
And adding a wee bit more to the rumour’s veracity is neoGAF user Famousmortimer, usually quite correct about these things, who says that he’s heard the game will be delayed.

A pared-down version of DriveClub was meant to be the free game for members of PlayStation Plus – and if the delay is true, Sony’s probably scrambling to find a suitable replacement. With Watch Dogs and The Crew only coming later in 2014, and DriveClub possibly being delayed as well, the next gen launch is even less exciting.
Honestly, as far as launch games go, The Xbox One is the system to get in my opinion. Dead Rising 3 has gone from interesting to incredible in the short time from E3 to this year’s rAge, and Forza 5, as you already know, looks pretty damned fantastic. Plus, there’s always Peggle 2.

Totally agree. By then the ‘fad’ will have fallen away and many of the cross-gen games will be done and dusted. Also means the launch prices may have come down. Christmas 2014 is when I will probably buy, Chritmas specials will be around and there will be some better looking games coming through.
My trusty PC can hold out till then, just upgraded to 64 bit Windows, dont know why I didnt do it sooner. Dem graphics……so much better now with DX11

I don’t think the XB1 looks bad, but MS’s long term vision hasn’t changed. The XB1 in designed to be an entertainment system and their focus will remain there (reality TV, Sperts etc). I like the PS3 because of the exclusives, and I still believe that in the long run the PS4 will be the better console for exclusives, if history is anything to go by.
Not one of the next gen consoles’ exclusives launch lineup seems extremely enticing to me, never has. The multi-platform games does look quite good though.
I didn’t order a console yet, and won’t until at least mid next year, when I can make a more informed decision and it is more evident what each console is capable of. Till then, I’ve a huge PSN+ backlog to complete.

X1 looks great and have great launch titles. I preordered my PS4, but not too sure now. Ill have to wait closer to December to see if they somehow announce extra games that are actually great to play. If not… ill cancel my preorder. DriveClub looks great, but not a console seller.

The only game that’s a MUST for me at PS4 launch is BF4, so if that’s delayed I’ll cancel my order and wait a few months. I’ll also get Killzone and maybe AC4, but I wont buy the system at launch for those.
I bought myself a new bike on Tuesday, so to be honest, it may be a small financial blessing if BF4 is delayed… lol

And save some money on bundles and specials in a year when the new gen has a better lineup, and as you say, revised hardware and software updates.

I too will wait for a while before picking up the console. I got my 360 2 months after launch, but I only got my PS3 about 4 years after launch… But I had just, finally!, bought a Full HD TV and decided that I needed a blu-ray player. At the time, the PS3 was only R500 more expensive than the cheapest blu-ray player… So I decided to go that route – that way, I could watch HD movies and play PS exclusives. 🙂 Worked out pretty good so far.
