The Order 1886 has stunning Collector’s Editions

Thanks to digital distribution, I’ve come to a strange point with games. If all I want is the actual game content, I’ll go digital. But then gorgeous Collector’s Editions come along and I can’t help but fetishize all the cool stuff. Sure, it may cost more, but it’s totally worth it. Just look at these two editions – how can you choose?

Over on Amazon, two listing have appeared for special version of The Order 1886. First up, we have the Collector’s Edition, retailing for $80, which includes:

  • Collectable steel book with full game
  • Coat of Arms stickers
  • 7″ Galahad Under Fire statue
  • The Knight’s Arsenal DLC
  • Official game soundtrack
  • Unreleased behind-the-scenes footage

The Order CE

Or, you could opt for the Premium Edition, retailing for $150, which includes:

  • Collector’s box
  • Collectable steel book with full game
  • 22 page art book with hidden compartment
  • Blackwater vial with chain (hidden in compartment)
  • Coat of Arms stickers
  • 13″ The Endless Duel statue
  • The Knight’s Arsenal DLC
  • Official game soundtrack
  • Unreleased behind-the-scenes footage

The order PE

Both of these looks absolutely stunning. I love the idea of a hidden compartment in the art book to hide the cool vial with the chain. That is really impressive design and will make a collector very happy. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t really seem to make people very happy yet. Darryn and I both got some hands on time with the game in LA, and it just felt very generic thus far. Here’s hoping the game becomes as awesome as these box sets before launch.

Yes. Collector’s editions are for cool physical stuff, otherwise I’ll go digital all the way. That $80 collector’s edition isn’t badly priced, it’s only what? $10 over the regular price & comes with a nifty statue.

Not as sweet as that Witcher Swag that Darryn got. Where does he live again?

Is that over the mountains? I heard dragons & giants eat travelers who attempt the crossing. O_O

Scary world out there, though I think Darryn scared away the Dragons after eating that ghost pepper.

lol The collectors edition is probably still cheaper than the digital download.
We loose the thick manuals in the plastic CD case because we want to be green, yet its still cheaper buying the CD.

YOU KNOW… moulding plastic, burning discs, transporting, shipping, delivering to retail, driving your car to pick it up IS STILL CHEAPER than the digital download.

Sometimes my brain just wants to leak out of my ears and run away 😛

I’m old school like OVG. I’d rather have a disc in my hand, a manual on the coffee table and a collection of games in the man cave… then apparently leasing some code tied to the cloud, that may or may not be working in 10 years time.

I am sorry but I have to put my foot down. As a proud owner of many many many Collectors Editions I personally think they have to make a new rule.

No new IP should have a CE edition EVER!

It causes over-hype and is just stupid. Now if this was The Order 1887 (aka Sequel) then I would be fine with a CE. My personal opinion but I thought I would just let it out there. I have the same feelings about Watchdogs.

Yeah .. once in a blue moon the game is CE worthy even if it is a new IP but it is still a crappy thing to do.

Both look very nice indeed. I am interested to see if Destiny gets a special edition release of some kind – and no DLC incentives are NOT special in any way, shape or form! EVER!!!
