Team xTc answers Southern Barbarian questions

Xtc team

Team xTc is currently tied at the top for BF4 in the DGL Premier League. Their captain, Stephen “Lang-Slang” de Wit, was kind enough to answer some questions about their DGL experience, Battlefield 4 compared to 3, and their experience as part of the Southern Barbarians.

First things first, when Battlefield 4 released, it was pretty much a broken experience. People are still saying the game is in bad shape, although others claim that the game is fixed. Obviously, people who play the game at a competitive level will be most aware of these problems, and fixes. So, what was de Wit’s opinion of BF4?

[…] my personal opinion, when this game was released it was in a terrible condition, I just wanted Battlefield3 back. Up to the point where I had to remove Battlefield3 from my pc to stop playing it and invest more time in BF4. After the first 2 months or so, DICE had really done their bit to fix the game, at its current state I enjoy the game very much. We all complained at the beginning, wasn’t really much we could do. It is a lot better now. The dynamics between BF3 and now BF4 are completely different tho. BF3 was a shooter, BF4 involves ALOT more strategy. You cant get away with blunt force and strong pushes alone, you have to stay alert and keep thinking, outsmarting the enemy or you will pay, no matter how well your team shoots.

Xtc playing

de Wit was one of five players from team xTc that were selected to play as part of The Southern Barbarians. He explained that The Southern Barbarians are actually made up of 24 players who has a community chose a captain (Anthrax) who then chose the team he thought was best to play at the ESL. Having done remarkably well, the ESL was a fantastic experience for all the BF4 players involved – so what did de Wit learn from the experience?

The ESL experience has tought me alot. Yes yes obviously I got to see how internationals play and I gathered new knowledge on them. BUT I actually got to learn a lot more about our local community too. Good and bad things.
I am very happy to have myself and some of my team mates associated with the Southern Barbarians team. Anthrax has done a really good job at running the team, together with Scoper. PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN right here.

He also had some advice for aspiring eSports athletes. It mirrors other things we’ve learned – you don’t learn much from winning against a weaker team. The best way to learn is to train hard, ask better players for advice and make the time commitment. Play stronger teams. He recommended taking part in pickup matches as well as joining the DGL. Speaking of the DGL, he had only glowing praise for the league – he asserts that despite some heat from players, the admins are fantastic at running the league and there’s nothing else like it in South Africa. So, who should we be looking out for at the DGCs?

BvD is always a threat. We have massive respect for one another and our matches are always intense. Then theres a few other teams that I think might cause an upset like APG, BZK, SSG and pulse. Prem is filled with powerhouse teams, I’m just saying who I’m looking out for in the winter leg.

The DGC is a different animal all together as every single team that makes it to the championships deserves to be there and has a chance of winning it, anything can happen.

Of course, the question you all wonder about – is de Wit getting all the ladies now that he’s captain of a top-of-the-log BF4 team? Well, sorry ladies – he’s off the market, he’s engaged.

Will you be rooting for team xTc at the DGCs, or is there another clan that gets your blood flowing?

The OWMNBM is probably crapping himself. De Wit used the word South African.

Glad the team is doing so well. *standing applause*

Yep, you need strategy, because almost the entire engineers kit is banned. (DGL)

The only 2 things I can think of that are banned from the Engineers kit are the MBT Law and the M2 Slam. ??????

I don’t like the DGL nor competitive gaming. Not my thing.

There are two engineer-specific bans, the MBT law and M2 slam. Without those, there are still a HUGE range of projectile weapons and mines to choose from, let alone the fact that you can play with almost every weapon type for each kit as well.

I just counted the engi weapons under the loadout page in Battlelog. 35 available excluding DLC weapons, and 1 of those is banned by DGL. 34 weapons isn’t enough? What other game do you have that choice in? If you can’t find a weapon out of that group, you really are nitpicking.

I also didn’t state “all the weapons”, so trying to get me on a technicality is a waste of time.

“Fanboys” – of what? Haha. I have used numbers to reinforce a fairly neutral statement, what are you getting upset about?

Well lets use numbers then shall we … oh DGL fanboy … (I got to this conclussion due to the fact that you came onto lg foaming at the mouth defending the guns, atleast thats the impression you give of)

There is a total of 34 weapons to chose of so that means roughly there is 15 weapons missing. That is almost half of the total guns available its hardly “almost all of them”.

BTW im far from upset calling a spade a spade thats all ..

I only play with about 6 weapons myself out of all of them so nitpicking isnt the issue here the issue here is your bullshit statement.

There clear enough for you or must I make you a info graphic ?
