South Africa’s National Battlefield 3 team showed their dominance this weekend, beating Spain in the Clan Base Nations Cup. They’ve had a small taste of victory after winning a map against Russia the week before, tying on map wins but losing because of tickets.

This time there was no question that our local team has what it takes; it’s only been their second game in the cup and they’ve taken the win, dominating both maps. The games were played on Operation Firestorm and Operation Metro. The scores were:

  • Operation Firestorm: 185 – 0
  • Operation Metro: 183 – 0

“The team is staying positive and aiming for another win against Bulgaria in their next match.

“The games have been great, we have had a bit of a mixed reaction from the teams but I honestly think that it is just the language barrier which is a problem as most of the more English speaking teams seem to come across more friendly, we are feeling rather confident going into our next game against Bulgaria and are hoping we can get a win out of that one.

Last nights games was really fun, but that is always going to happen when you are winning. Obviously there is always nerves when you are playing at this level with the kind of skill that is up on offer.” Says team captain Barry Louzada.

The team is proving that their skill level is not inferior to European teams, even though they’ve never really had regular opportunities to practice against these teams.

The game against Bulgaria will take place on 3 March.

I like bacon and games, and occasionally I say something coherent about it. I'm not old or cynical, and I'm not the Dork Knight. I AM SHE-RA! Wait, what?

Hey Telkom, hows about hooking these okes up with a proper gaming pipe for these matches so that they can further dominate?

    • AndriyP

      HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA EPIC LULZ
Sigh you know its so depressing that it turns to be funny

Yes Telkom, its your fault that we are 6000km away from the server. Can’t you hook us up with faster than the speed of light fiber?
Seriously guy, get with the program – this isn’t Telkom’s issue at all. You arent going to get much lower than 200ms thanks to pure distance required.

It seems like your sarcasm detector is faulty

Please could someone explain how the scoring works? I’m a pleb when it comes to BF3, so rather confused. It can’t be as one-sided as “zero” appears. I keep looking at it like a rugby score, and can’t understand how in a whole match a team can score nil.

Both teams start with a certain amount of tickets (Lets say 500) For every kill you get, your enemy loses a ticket. Also, capturing and keeping flags will also make your enemy lose tickets. The first team to reach zero loses…

      • M

Ah, thank you! Finally it all makes sense. You win by losing slower. Got it.

        • Scruff304

Pretty much. Well put actually :) Why they did just say “Let both teams start at 0 and work their way to a limit” is beyond me. Guess a team hitting 0 is much more dramatic :þ

You also get a ticket back by reviving a team mate.

Each team starts with x amount of tickets (points). Killing an opponent makes them lose a ticket as well as holding more flags.

    • Admiral Chief Erwin

Works on tickets, as you capture and hold the opponents points, and as they die, they lose tickets as well. (both start, for example, on 200/300 tickets, and they decrease)
In other words, damn good scores for our boys!

Thanks for the support. It’s great being able to stream the games and give guys a proper sense for what is going on too. We have been practising hard and I’m sure all those who watch will see that the style of play we’re facing is quite different :P Bulgaria is next!
