Like much of the world, I wasn’t particularly enamoured with Super Mario 3D World for the Wii U when it was first shown at E3 this year. Most gamers were expecting something really fresh and intriguing; something to match up to the frankly fantastic Super Mario Galaxy. Instead, we got something that looked very much like the 3DS’ Super Mario 3D Land. With cats. In some new footage from yesterday’s Nintendo direct, Nintendo showed that yes, Super Mario 3D World is probably going to be incredible.

Here it is.

Honestly, this just looks like it’ll be an absolute joy to play, and a little more indicative of the sort of wonder we few Wii U owners might be privy to in the future. and say what you like about Mario, and the sheer number of titles bearing his name; just about every single one of them contains the spark of genuine magic.

I wasn’t very excited for Super Mario 3D World at all, but that’s very much changed. the only issue is that’s it’s coming this year on November 29…which is just two weeks after the release of the PS4.

One thing I am rather irritated with is the online shop… The design isn’t done very well and I swear I still can’t find where to buy that damn LuigiU thing…

That said I can’t wait to get this, Mario Kart WiiU and Super Smash Bros WiiU

Luigi U needs to be purchased from within NSMBU; there’s a patch that enabled DLC purchases.

Also, Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U is absolutely beautiful. 60fps, and magical.
