Square Enix is hosting their own E3 conference

E3 is a crazy experience. Make no mistake it is fun, but when tackled in a manner where news comes first and gawking comes second, the convention is a special kind of monster. The biggest challenge though? Press conference day. There’s a reason why I’ve named it “The Gauntlet”. Traditionally, attendees had four press events to work through. That meant racing from Microsoft and Xbox to EA, hitting Ubisoft at the Morpheus theater and finishing the day off with Sony, leaving you completely drained. And it’s about to get even tougher.

And that’s because Square Enix will be hosting its own E3 conference. They’ve got plenty to show, such as the new Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Rise Of The Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy 15. Thing is, it won’t be the day before like the other conferences, but on June 16, the first day of E3. Here’s the official breakdown from Square-Enix:

E3 is just around the corner! With our exciting slate of games coming out in 2015 and beyond, Square Enix will be hosting a dedicated E3 conference in Downtown LA on Tuesday, June 16, at 9AM PST/ 5PM GMT/ 1AM JST. Start E3 right with a dose of some exciting news before the show officially kicks off later in the day.

What news do we have in store? You’ll just have to wait and see. Can’t attend E3? Not a problem. Viewers unable to attend the show can follow us on our live streaming channels below and see the conference as it happens:

Twitch: Twitch.TV/SquareEnixPresents

Youtube: Youtube.com/SquareEnixPresents

We’ll also be updating in real time directly from the conference floor so be sure to follow us on Twitter to get up to the minute updates from this event!

I’m most likely giving the event a skip this year, so I have massive amounts of pity for Zoe and Sandy, who will probably attend this year. Suckers. I wasn’t joking about the day being a killer either. It’s not just four press conferences to get through, that’ll break you. Usually, there’ll be another event, such as Microsoft hosting an exclusive hands-on session with upcoming games, that can be attended in order to get some more news to write about. And free food, which I’m ethically obliged to admit that I’ve taken advantage of, as our budget usually only stretches far enough to get us to LA on the dodgiest of airlines and have us set up in the seediest of motels.

From there, we’ve still got to head back and get some work done for you wonderful folks, before we can finally, finally get some sleep. Which is traditionally why E3 only opens up at 12 in the afternoon, so that industry folks can recover a few hours of sleep. Looks like our writers are going to be getting a few hours less sleep, thanks to Square Enix this year.

Shame. If you guys want a lesson in conference pain, try attending a UNFCC COP event for 2 weeks where 3 hours sleep a night and one meal is a fucking privilege. Look forward to the coverage! Was awesome last year!

Not really surprised considering a lot of their games are multi-platform and dont want either Sony or Microsoft to steal their thunder. Though I wonder what MS will show if SE holds the next Tomb Raider trailer for themselves?

Their big nob said the other day they want to show new IP at E3. Could be a sign they are going to.

They better show some gameplay for Scalebound. It’s literally the only exclusive I have interest in on their side.

They’re probably going to get it wrong and have some new apple device that urinates when called.
