Somebody managed to open up EA’s servers and siphon this information out of them, so it can quite nearly be considered the real deal. Here’s your first look at the new thing’s that’ll be coming to The Sims 4.

You can moan about The Sims all you like, but truth is it’s one of the biggest gaming franchises on the planet, and one of, if not the biggest selling PC game in South Africa. It makes EA a ton of money; money that’s used to find the games you moaners actually want to play. But there’s a very, very good reason The Sims is so popular; it;s actually a pretty incredible game, and the purest RPG you’ll ever play.

I’m not afraid to admit that I harboured a pretty serious Sims addiction for quite some time after the original game was released. Anyway, here’s the information that was nabbed, courtesy of AGB.

I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.

Don't stop now.... you're having a good time

  • Admiral Chief Zombie Slayer

          • ElimiNathan

Edit doesn’t count as twice :P

      • Spathi

Served so rare, I have to tie it down on my plate lest it walks away!

        • Admiral Chief Zombie Slayer

When you cut it it still goes MOOOOOOOOOO

I’m super amped for this! So much more gaming time for me while the missus plays Sims 4!

    • Admiral Chief Zombie Slayer

Hahaha, indeed. I want to get that HumbleBundle so that my wife can jam more

    • Tarisma

      Read my mind.

    • Hesperus Phosphorus

Wish I get my wife into Sims but I know she’d think it’s total rubbish :(

Need more time for my 360!

  • Wtf101

Bearded Man’s “Oh please God help me” look is priceless!

    • Unavengedavo

You can even imagine the woman saying “Are you even listening to me?”

      • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

That’s the look of a man that’s clocked out hours ago. All that’s in his head is the promise of a few hours of silence in the man cave.

        hehehe

        hehehe

  • Lardus-Shepard Incarnate

Never took to Sims 3 after Sims 2. My sister loves it, so she receives a content pack or expansion every once in a while from her best brother (me, not the other one). She will be delighted over this news.

    • Wtf101

      I enjoyed Sims 3 a bit more than Sims 2 really…

      • Lardus-Shepard Incarnate

It was more a “I need to study what else is there to do” kinda game for me. Plus then I started with WoW and everything else fell away.

      • Vampyre Squirrel

Sims 3 is actually a lot better than 2… except you can’t drown Sims in a pool anymore

    • Unavengedavo

You have a sister? How old is she? :P

      • Lardus-Shepard Incarnate

That would require me to first remember her birthday and then do math…on a Friday! Maybe I could ask her husband :)

        • Unavengedavo

          • Rags

It’s good new man. Now you only compete against one guy!

          • Unavengedavo

Jy krap nie in ‘n ander man se slaai nie…

  • InsanityFlea

Pic 4, yeah, I have that face too while she’s yelling at me. Most guys will have that face.

  • Hammersteyn

I like the Sims. What I don’t like is the R2000 worth of addons that follows.

    • Vampyre Squirrel

Yeah, that is a bit insane… Pay R300 for a game, and then R150-R250 for every expansion there after, and there’s 12 of them over the space of 6 months and you just HAVE to have them, so you buy them and then you’re bankrupt and all your stuff gets repossessed by the bank including your game and then you’re REALLY screwed…

      too much?

      • Hammersteyn

        Not at all

  • Hammersteyn

Shes like : “Did you think about our chat?”
    Hes like : “Which one?”
    Que the fight scene

    • Unavengedavo

  • Rock789

I think this’ll be really shweet! Always enjoyed the Sims, since the 1st one on PC. Can sink ALOT of hours into those games. Now to only find the time, damn it!

  • Slade Boender

was expecting the graphical fidelity to be a little more… well.. prettier. Weird.

  • Rags

Eh, played a bit of Sims 1 back in the day, but they kept on dying. :(

    • Vampyre Squirrel

you weren’t supposed to take the ladders out of the pool while they were swimming…

      • Unavengedavo

Or lock them in a room full of fireworks…

        • Rags

Now I feel like playing roller coaster tycoon again with incomplete tracks. :D

    • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

:( you were supposed to feed them :P

  • Mossel

I remember when I got the very first Sims, I think you needed DirectX 7. I was so excited to jam the game, but only had DX6 on my pc. It was a pirate copy so I also didn’t get it with the game and had no internet (WHAT?!). I was devistated.

  • Vampyre Squirrel

Graphics in those screenshots look quite similar to Sims 3… possibly very very slightly better.

  • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

Screw you guys, I like the Sims. It’s the last true RPG/Simulator out there. And I’ll be damned if I’m not excited!

    SIMS 4 SIMS 4 SIMS 4

    • Vampyre Squirrel

I like the Sims too… just hope there aren’t as many expansions with this rendition.

      • CypherGate

there will always be expansions to this game

  • Shirley

Oh look, it’s exactly like Sims 3 but with worse graphics. Which is what Sims 3 was compared to Sims 2. And the identical expansion packs will be released. I was a devoted Sims fan for over 10 years but my stupidity has been exploited to its limits. For the first time in my Sims fangirllsm life I did not buy the last 4 (or is 5? 25?) expansion packs. Over it. I’ve run out of stupid. And patience.

    • J.F.

Whoa, I would definitely call this a huge step up from Sims 3. Much more realistic if you watch the video release of Sims 4 Create a Sim at Gamescom. And that was just in CAS. Much more personalized. Much more sophisticated. New Sims releases are always going to be new reactions, new CAS developments, actions, traits, etc. And the expansions are going to remain fairly the same because the expansions they provide are staples in fantasy life creations. They’ve been adding new expansions via the Sims 3 that neither sims 2 or sims had- like the Sims 3 Into the Future expansion that is being released later this year and the 60′s 70′s 80′s Pack (or whatever it was). Bottom Line, Sims 4 is giving a lot of us less of a reason to download tons of mod packages. I am very excited and satisfied!

  • mllche

    Sounds just like Sims 3

  • DrKiller

    Sounds a lot like SIms 3 :P

  • r1g0

Did you mean “fund” instead of “find”? second paragraph, third line

  • http://www.hughlashbrooke.com/ Hugh Lashbrooke

The last time I played The Sims I tested the limits of what could be defined as a house – I gave the guy a single piece of wall, a bed, a toilet and a fridge. He survived for ages and was surprisingly happy (probably because he had loads of money).

  • Ann

So… No patterns for clothing or adjustable hair colours? : (

    • J.F.

I bet there will be for sure. I wasn’t specifically checking for hair colors when I watched the Sims 4 CAS video for Gamescom, but I am sure they will add it if it wasn’t there.
