SimCity is released with legal cheats

I’m a massive SimCity fan but I must have missed the memo that SimCity is all about the cheating as I honestly didn’t know that. But it seems to be such a big thing that EA have actually developed some straight forward cheats in the system for you to try.

Thanks to IGN for the list but apparently if you want some free money or to turn off homeless people then you can do that by simply clicking some hot keys.

ALT+W – Add §100,000 to City Budget
ALT+F – Toggle Fire On/Off
ALT+C – Toggle Crime On/Off
ALT+M – Toggle Health Issues On/Off
ALT+A – Toggle Air Pollution On/Off
ALT+P – Toggle Ground Pollution On/Off
ALT+H – Toggle Homeless Sims On/Off
ALT+S – Toggle Sewage On/Off

Just be warned that once you hit a cheat key your achievements are then disabled and since you cannot save a city and go back to it then you could ruin your entire game my hitting ALT+Anything really. Unfortunately, there’s no cheat to enable you to log in to the game by bypassing server issues. Hooray for games that require a permanent internet connections!

I don’t think cheating a required part of SimCity but then I’ve always been a bit anal about people cheating – so maybe it’s just me.

i don’t mind cheats … those were fun back in the day, complex inputs activates god mode or nets you a quick tank, heck yeah!,its fun when you are not into the main game but ALT + … really? That’s like running a trainer and you’re just enabling crap.

……..meaning not at all, or only to the state of your city before cheating. If the first, then I can see a lot of half build Cities.

I loved those AvP cheats(mods) you could replay a level with, with the big heads and mirror mode etc.

I’d bet the server does not return an error number when the connection goes down. That way people can’t make jokes or print t-shirts like they did with Error 37

The only cheats I use, are the ones for GTA, but only once I’ve completed the story. It’s more just so I can get all weapons and run around causing mayhem as a time killer.

I think this is awesome. It’s a great way to explore different city options and just have fun. I’d love to see cheats that allow you to trigger apocalypses at will!

The Sims still comes with ‘legal’ cheats that are actually listed in the readme file! So I’m not too surprised that SimCity is the same.

What concerns me from the above is this bit: “…you cannot save a city and go back to it…” I’m hoping that I’m reading that wrong and it doesn’t mean you can’t save your game in SimCity!

  I read it that your city saves as it is, no restoring a previous build i.e. one before using the cheat code.

In order to latch onto social media and social interactivity, they’ve forgotten about the armchair psychopath .. the guy who loves to set their sims on fire, or create the most worthless sim ever and role-play being the most-worthless, most-annoying unemployed wang to have ever existed on this planet. :/

Is there a way to disable the hot keys? What a lame addition. It seems they ruined Sim City with their tiny city sizes, always on DRM and server issues.
