Ah, Sim City. you looked so good, and I thought I might get sucked back in to the bait of micromanaging a virtual city – but then you had launch issues, no mods, small city sizes and a wealth of other issues that made you no fun to play. the biggest issue for most though, is the lack of offline play. Thankfully, after months of denying it was even possible, Maxis finally relented and said a patch would be coming to add offline play. That patch is now in its final testing stages.

According to Maxis general manager Patrick Buechner, here’s what you can expect in Update 10.
"In Update 10, you can still play solo in Regions on your own, or in Multiplayer with people from around the world," he explained
"What’s new is the Single Player Mode, which allows you to play the game Offline by yourself. And because your saved games in this mode are stored locally, you can save and load to your heart’s content.
"Bringing the game Offline means big things for our wonderful community of Modders," Buechner added. "They can now make modifications to the game and its components without compromising the integrity of the Online game. Modding is a big part of our studio’s legacy and we’re excited to see what you guys create."
It’s neat, but I’m not sure anyone’s really still playing Sim City, and I don’t think an offline patch will bring back players in droves. The best that we can hope for Sim City is that it serves an example to developers and publishers about the perils of always online single player games.

Cripes! Rocky has just escaped and is “somewhere in the building” – actually about to get into bed with Janet. Brad Majors (just visible in the back in that fetching blue gown) has just been caught sleeping with Frank after Frank tricked him by pretending to be Janet in the dark. Janet, you may remember had been duped by Frank only a few hours before that.
Okay … I may have watched the screen play and the stage show a few too many times …

I like the game, but it needs bigger maps. This one midget map is just not doing it for me.
With a bigger map you can even let go of tera-forming. Just make it so that you can make tunnels etc.
