The post-launch content for Batman: Arkham Knight has been a mixed bag so far. The Red Hood, Batgirl and Harley Quinn story modes have been adequate, albeit shorter than my temper when the ride attendant at Gold Reef City tells me that children aren’t allowed on the Puke-A-Tron 5000 rollercoaster.
What is relevant however, is that the content promised is being delivered. Tastes may vary, and right now, I’ve been giggling like a Japanese school girl since I downloaded the 1989 Batman content. There’s still more to come of course. Here’s what September has in store according to Warner Bros:
- Crime Fighter Challenge Pack #1 (Sept. 1): Receive 6 AR challenges for Batman, Nightwing, Robin and Catwoman. This expansive challenge pack allows focused training in Freeflow Combat and Invisible Predator stealth incursion.
- GCPD Lockdown (Later in Sept.): Set after the events of Arkham Knight, play as Nightwing to stop the Penguin from breaking out of the Gotham City Police Department in this thrilling story pack.
- 2008 Tumbler Batmobile Pack (Later in Sept.): Inspired by the 2008 movie ‘The Dark Knight’, intimidate your foes with the Tumbler Batmobile and race through two themed tracks.
- Original Arkham Batman Skin (Later in Sept.): Fight the war against Gotham City with the original Arkham Asylum Batman costume.
While the cosmetic and challenge sections of the season pass content have actually been pretty solid, Arkham Knight still has a ways to go before the story DLC is worth the season pass price. Which is a bit chuffing high.
Still, I like the idea of Nolan content for the game, and it shouldn’t stop at just the Tumbler. Throw in some more skins, such as the Batman Begins and Dark Knight costumes! Those looked fantastic on the big screen, especially when Wayne used it for extreme spelunking and planting his fist in crime. BECAUSE HE’S BATMAN!
In somewhat related news, Rocksteady’s been awful quiet about that PC version lately…

Publishers complain that DLC is necessary because $60 for a game isn’t enough. If people buy it for $5 then the shoddy broken ports is the perfect “trend”

Well. I only bought Arkham City and Origins this year. So it makes sense that it would be $5.
Going with that trend I can expect Arkham Knight to also cost $5 by the time it’s finally ready for pc.

I bought Batman of Mordor at release. The “big open world” game whose map turned out to be a little bit bigger than my front yard and which had a QTE final fight.

That was when I started to lose faith in WB. The broken AK just cemented it. Now they’re announcing DLCs and new content for consoles but you don’t hear a whisper of what’s happening with the pc version. They’ve officially been put on “that” list of devs

I loved the gameplay and fighting, but the game itself completely underwhelmed me. Not worth that full price tag at all.
The “fresh” idea they were talking about is pretty much just a Batman game with “wraith” mode – oh wait no, that’s just detective mode with another name. Even the orcs have the exact same walking animations as the thugs in Batman.
The gore is awesome though, so are the death moves.

contrary to what all reviewers say, this game is not the batman game we were waiting for, even on console.
its really not the 9/10 game Darryn said it is.
the game runs beautifully on my PC, but i still think its the worst game of the franchise.

-new batman car is decent, thats a fairly extensive remodel.
-nightwing penguin DLC will be exactly as it sounds, a single mission that will take you maybe 15 minutes, with penguin just being a reskin on a regular NPC…
-arkham skin, wooo hats…
