Scarecrow Nightmare Pack for Batman Arkham Knight brings on the fear

Plenty of big things were a’happenin’ at the Sony PlayStation Experience over the weekend. Naturally, I ignored all of them until I finally got some news on Batman Arkham Knight. When the Dark Knight returns next year, it won’t just be in a vanilla edition of the game, as he’ll be getting some exclusive Scarecrow-themed content on the PS4. Night-light not included.

“Gotham falls victim to Scarecrow’s fear toxin, transforming the famous city into a twisted, hellish nightmare in the Batman: Arkham Knight Scarecrow Nightmare Pack,” a description on PlayStation.com reads, detailing the return of the Scarecrow after he vanished due to an unfortunate incident of being mauled by Killer Croc way back in the debut Batman game Arkham Asylum.

Tear through the city in the all-new batmobile and face off against a towering vision of Scarecrow and his undead army as they spread terror on the streets, available exclusively on PlayStation 4.

One of the highlights of Arkham Asylum for me, was the Scarecrow himself. Those missions wherein players got a face full of fear gas where trippy experiences, while the master of terror had a really awesome new look that was tied to his incarceration. I’m digging his return appearance even more however, as he now has that cool Freddy Krueger influence taken to a whole new level, as was shown at E3 this year.

We first got a glimpse at Scarecrow during gameplay footage shown off at the end of Sony’s E3 2014 press conference.

“How many bones will you crush? How many lives will you destroy in pursuit of what you call justice?” Scarecrow growled during that first look. “You are the product of everything you fear – violence, darkness, helplessness. All that remains is for you to watch while I drag your beloved Gotham into oblivion.”

The only concern I have regarding the content however, is that it could possibly gimp the impact of the Scarecrow on PC and Xbox One. Hopefully, that’s not the case. And while I have you all here, here’s the final part of the Ace Chemicals Infiltration trailer, in case you have an urge to relive the finale of Rambo 3:

It’s the same content that I played through at E3, which is 100% in-game. And yes, it does actually look that damn good. Batman: Arkham Knight is out in June next year.

When they said greatness awaits they should have said, “through exclusive content and games” in the fine print

Had no idea that was Indie. The game’s eye-candy made me think otherwise. Now I really want it.

how many times do we have to beat up a giant scarecrow in these games?
we’ve had the same scenario with him three games in a row already, this will be the fourth

lemme guess, run around a make believe stage and avoid his scary red eye lazers?

It’s the “backstory” to all the characters of Gotham. In the first episode you see appearances for most of the well known villians in the future to come.

It’s like Smallville but for Batman

Do I even need to mention that the vanilla edition for The Witcher 3 = a premium product. From what’s in the box to in-game content being the same on all 3 platforms with 16 free DLC to everyone who bought the game. And No DRM.

Batman Arkham Knight is not worth a day one purchase. Wait for when the game is released with all the damn content, GOTY edition. Or buy the vanilla edition for $5 on Steam or second-hand. Darryn should be selling the game when he is done with it.

Don’t support DRM. The Witcher 3 is coming
