Rumour: Assassins Creed 3 to be set during the American Revolution Popular

The Assassins Creed franchise has been all over the world so far, with the majority of the sequels set during the Renaissance. It should be no surprise that Ubisoft is currently working on a third instalment that will wrap up several loose ends, but it looks like series lead character Desmond may not be out of the Animus chair just yet.

Rumours have begun circulating for when exactly the next game will be set, with some pointing towards a Victorian-era England, while others say that the game may occur in Medieval England.

But it seems that our hero Desmond may finally get to relive a life standing next to George Washington himself.

Sources at CVG, who claim to be “close to the project”, say that Assassins Creed 3 will take place during the American Revolution and War of independence. The same source also claims that the sequel will be shown on March 31.

Considering how the franchise has a habit of revealing its schemes over multiple titles, this shouldn’t be too surprising. A survey last year asked participants how they would feel if the 18th Century war were to be used for the next setting of the game, while hints towards it were seen in a set of coordinates in the Da Vinci Disappearance DLC.

And considering how well this particular time would tie in to the game, with its themes of Masons, independence and symbolism interwoven around that crucial point in history, it’s actually the perfect time and setting for the next game.

Ubisoft has been working on what they deem to be their “biggest instalment” to date, and was being worked on as early as last year already. And don’t forget, if you’re hungry for more Assassins Creed details, then remember to enter our contest where we’re giving away an exclusive encyclopedia and various other goodies.

Was hoping it would be in present day with desmond at the helm but i can actually see this working

A blend of it, with a bit more Desmond sequences, but not just climbing warehouses and whot not. Him being more involved in Assassining. Obviously that stuff in the past as well.

      • http://www.facebook.com/brendon.bosch Brendon Bosch

As long as they finish off the game in present day with Desmond getting his Kill on then i`ll be happy

[Spoiler: if you haven't seen Assassin's Creed: Embers be wary!]

Considering Ezio met just such a character before [SPOILER] his death, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did. It fits perfectly but I like the US war, too.
