Rodea The Sky Soldier is finally headed west

And hopefully it won't be as weird as the last Japanese game that I played

Japan has access to a ton of games, that we’ll never see on this side of the globe. Crazy weird games, that star porcelain-skinned high school girls doing…stuff. While some of those games would most likely land me in jail if the cops ever found out about them, there are still other games that looks like an amazing load of fun, that never make it across the translation border. Well at least one of the more fan-requested titles is finally headed west, as Rodea the Sky Soldier will be hitting the Wii U and 3DS soon.

Kadokawa Games and Prope’s flight action platformer Rodea the Sky Soldier will arrive on Nintendo devices later this year, NIS America announced. Never heard of it? Well its got some of that crazy cool Japanese charm, as Rodea follows the titular machine soldier who protects his home, the Kingdom of Garuda, from the might of the Naga Empire. Some stuff goes down, and the soldier is deactivated for over a 1000 years, before being awoken again by a young inventor named Ion.

Broken and in need of some repairs, Ion repairs Rodea, just in time to fight back a new Naga invasion. Gameplay focuses heavy on aerial movement and navigation, with battles taking place on massive battlefields and with tons of enemies. Here’s what it looks like in action:

And if you’re bandwidth-deprived, here’s a ton of new screenshots as well:

I know I’m in the minority when it comes to these kinds of games, but I’d be tickled pinker than an anime schoolgirl’s hair to get the chance to play some Rodea on the go.

  1. I know some people go crazy about the Japanese games and sometimes I can just almost see why, but then I sober up again! Guess it’s just not my genre of choice as it does nothing for me sadly! ????

It does actually. Rodea was in limbo for a veeeeery long time, I’m glad to see it’s alive and ACTUALLY releasing over here.

This looks like a ton of fun actually, just hope we get the Japanese sound track option as that can sometimes be the nail in the coffin with some of these games.
