Rockstar’s hiring for Next-gen

The next generation of consoles could be upon us sooner than we think, as another developer has started putting out feelers for staff to help with next-gen project. The latest developer to throw their name in to that hat is the house that Grand Theft Auto built, Rockstar. They’re currently looking for environmental artists to work on an as yet unnamed project.

In a job post on Rockstar’s own site, the company says it’s seeking somebody with “the technical knowledge to achieve great looking results and the skill to get the most from next-gen consoles.” The applicant would be tasked with “designing, building and texturing the world” of an unannounced game.

That likely rules out GTA V, set in a fictional Los Angeles, which was announced via a trailer last year. It’s also unlikely to a first person shooter, as the company’s actively trying to avoid the genre. So what could it be, and when is coming?

A new Manhunt? More Midnight Club? A sequel to L.A Noire?

Me? I hope we’re getting a next-generation Red Dead Redemption, one of the few sandbox titles that’s wholly grabbed me by the balls.
