Remote Play more prominent on PlayStation 4?

Remote Play – that is, using your PSP or PlayStation Vita to play PS3 games streamed from your main console – is a severely underutilised feature in the current gen. I can count on just one hand the number of games I won that actually work with Remote Play. It seems that’ll change with the PlayStation 4.

The new, quite sexy, official PlayStation 4 site seems to suggest that Remote Play will be quite a major feature of the new console – and could even be mandatory, meaning all  PS4 games will support the feature. This should come as great news to PlayStation Vita owners who’ve been wondering just why they bought the system.

“Play your favorite PS4 games on your PlayStation Vita’s beautiful 5-inch display using Remote Play,” says the site.

If, in future, it turns out that it’s not a standard feature, Sony could end up in trouble with advertising authorities – much like Nintendo did with it’s Wii U, which advertised “Off-screen play,”  a feature that was also only available in a handful of titles.

I certainly hope it happens. Not only do I have a PSVita gathering dust in my cupboard, but I also find myself using the Wii U’s off-screen gaming capabilities more and more.

Well, for me..when i’m busy playing THE BEST GAMES EVER ON THE WII U and my kids say “whine whine, we want to watch Phineas and Ferb” or whatever retarded crap it is they like, they can do that, while i take up the whole couch and carry on playing on the tablet. If i can do the same with the PS4, then I’m golden.

Ahh, I see. I don’t have that problem, the chains I have on my offspring, and when I say that I am stretching the term to snapping point, won’t allow them higher than the 4th step of the basement…
