In an effort to give back to the community and raise money for charity, Razer has waived their $19.99 fee for the Personalized 7.1 Gaming Surround Sound. The software that lets you transform any headphones, headset or earphones into a 7.1 surround sound experience.
Of course, it’s just virtual 7.1 and downloading this won’t magically make elves come and install extra speaker units inside your headphones while you sleep, but free is free. The offer stands until 31 December this year and all proceeds from Razer Surround donations will go to the Child’s Play charity. So how does this work? Well, it’s really easy.
- Create a free Razer account
- Download the Synapse 2.0
- Get the audio software
- Follow the easy on-screen steps
You don’t have to donate any money to the charity in order to download the software, but please consider doing so.

How good is this software at emulating a 7.1 channel headset?

Actually, pretty decent if you’re using standard stereo hardware. Pretty close to dolby’s virtual tech.
