Quantum Break will be the ‘ultimate Remedy experience’

Remedy

So what kind if games can we expect on next-generation consoles then? Why, more current-gen shooting of course! But hell, it’s going to look damn purdy! But one game in particular is going to at least try and refine that experience, as Remedy Entertainment is looking to squeeze the best from their Max Payne and Alan Wake games, into one massive experience.

Speaking to GI.biz, studio CEO Matias Myllyrinne explained how the Xbox One exclusive would function in conjunction with the TV show idea (TV!), taking a few cues from their Alan Wake games to do so. “We’ve taken a lot of the learnings about interactive storytelling from Alan Wake and we hope to raise the bar further,” Myllyrinne said.

We’ve taken a lot of the learnings about cinematic combat and shooting mechanics from Max Payne to push those further. We’re building on those for what will hopefully be the ultimate Remedy experience.

The game and TV show ship together as one cohesive package. The episodes of the TV show are interwoven with the episodes of the game. The storylines take place in the same location. Hypothetically you can watch one or play the other but you’ll get so much more out of it if you combine them together.

Sounds like a big game then (WITH TV!), so why stay as an exclusive to the Xbox One then? Because Microsoft has that stacks of mad cash, yo:

This is clearly a strategic move for them as well as us. This is something, we have crazy ideas, but we need to fall back and let the full force of a company like Microsoft see it through.

There’s no way on God’s green Earth that we would take on a venture like this on our own. We might have the appetite but there’s no way we could.

So far, Quantum Break at least looks interesting, and gorgeous to boot. There’s no clear indicator yet as to when the game will launch, but hopefully with a TV deal in place to add some pressure, it’ll be a Remedy title that isn’t stuck in development for way too long.

I was going through a list of exclusives for PS3 and Xbox 360 yesterday. The Xbox sure does have a few great exclusives….then came Last of Us.

I suppose now that I had to look on in Jealousy at the SONY owners who enjoyed Heavenly Sword, MGS4, Heavy Rain, Uncharted and The Last of Us, I will just have to look on at the One fanboys in the same way.
I only own a single console at a time and that is as expensive as it is.
The Last Guardian better get some love.

I was lucky enough to get a PS3 for free from someone who moved to the UK. I don’t know whether I should feel sorry for him more for having to buy a new PS or living in the UK.

As an owner of both consoles, yet to play TLOU, I’d say Xbox owners are missing out on God of War 3 and Uncharted and free MP. But then again, the PS3 patches aren’t bandwith friendly especially if you have internet issues.

Don’t know how I feel about this yet. Going to be really interesting to see the final implementation. Just wondering about the costs of adding the TV element though. Will this be a really expensive game, or will the episodes be sold separately? Will this set a new standard where TV is the new DLC?

“The game and TV show ship together as one cohesive package” Hopefully we won’t have to pay for a game AND a mini series but I doubt that!

Yeah, the costs must accumulate a lot here. Wonder if Microsoft will bear the brunt of the TV development side – unlikely – or are we going to be looking at a R1000.00+ game? Its justifiable if that is the case to pay more, since you are effectively paying for a game plus TV series. There is just no way my wallet would be handing out that kind of cash for a game though.

Like everybody else on this website, we are all bored out of our minds at work. Even if I did have Telkom finally instal a cable after a decade wait, It never fucking works and my lease runs out.

An anchor pulled the line is all they say. BOLLOCKS. Last week I was on LIVE and we could not even stream Youtube on a 1mb line.

Keep my gaming away from the internet as much as I can.

In the old days we just did local lan when we wanted to do CO-OP or split screen. Still do, but now we are forced to go on LIVE and play CO-OP while we stream via fucking EASTER ISLAND 😛

So you’re actually pissed at Hellkom and not MS? But I feel your pain! Was in the same boat and switched to satellite internet. Streaming is a breeze but latency sucks for most online gaming! But I heard O3b has just launched their first of a network of low orbit satellites and that should have up to 75% improved latency! As for the day one patch, take that sucker to work and just “work late” one night! ????

Or just buy the console that is R1000 cheaper and do not have to bring it to work or get spied on by Bill Gates while I play with my joystick :p

          • Concerned

            July 5, 2013 at 11:47

OR pay R1000 more for the console that doesn’t come preloaded with useless software and comes with useless power draining LED’s on the controllers that you cannot use unless you also buy their spy toy(emphasis on toy here), and instead stick it to the man by playing all your games with a towel around your head and a big ass Jihad flag behind you! ????. Or you could just throw away your PC, laptop, tablet, mobile etc. if you’re really worried about spying! ????
