Putting The Witcher 3 on consoles was the right thing to do

The Witcher 3. In the middle of that great big brouhaha about whether the game had been downgraded, CD Projekt RED admitted that yes, there was a disparity between early demonstrations and the final game. They also said that it had to do with getting the game running on consoles. The console ports, however, were necessary, they insisted – or the game might otherwise never be made. It just wouldn’t be worth the cost, and they’d never recoup their money. They were right.

As you already know, The Witcher 3 has sold over 4 million copies already, which is some well-deserved success. For once, a big, AAA game has lived up to its hype. In a new video extolling the virtues and success of its new Good Old Games Galaxy client, CD Projekt has revealed how many people bought the game on that fledgling platform: 693,000.

They also say that a further 613,000 PC gamers opted to buy the game elsewhere. Extrapolating a little, that’s 1 about 1.3 million copies of the game sold on PC. Accounting for retail physical PC sales – let’s put a conservative guesstimate of around 400 thousand copies, we have 1.7 million PC copies sold. At a guess, that would mean that 2.3 million copies of the game were for consoles.

That’s a lot of copies. According to people who’re better with numbers than I am, it all means that – conservatively – people have spent a cumulative 9730 years playing The Witcher 3, which is longer than the earth has been around according to fundamentalists who insist that the earth is scarcely 6 thousand years old.

It is not. Bishop Ussher writings and American fundamentalists are alive and out there.

It is a serious thing. I think they focus on an area of the Bible and do not move past that. Wrong thinking, in my opinion. Extremely complicated issue.

I’m just happy that the game is doing well. I think they have been very upfront about most things, and that is why they were let slide on some of their mistakes. I never played one of their games, but Witcher 3 is really a pretty good game with such a big story!

Yea. I’m friends with quite a few highly educated people. Most of them are not very clever, but they’re convinced that they are because a laminated piece of paper says so.

That’s why I see a difference between clever & intelligent. A piece of paper that says you studied hard enough to earn it is nice, but it doesn’t say anything about the quality of your own thinking – especially when it comes to something unrelated.
