Did anybody know about this sale? Saw IC tweet a link yesterday, and just one other person was at the doors of my local branch this morning for the sale.

Picked up Dishonored for R149.95, thanks IC

    • Tbone187

Most can’t believe Incredible Corruption are actually having a sale I suppose…

      • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

They’ve had similar sales in the past, and then on the day, you’d get to the store only to discover they have no stock (or the staff hoarded specific titles for themselves or their friends). I reckon people are just sceptical. I might go this evening, to pick up Dishonoured and Darksiders 2.

        • Purple_Dragon

I hate it when staff do that, hoarding shit for them or their friends.

          • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

I have no problem with a staff member using his staff discount and scoring on a sale like this, but when they hoard for friends and family… that’s just not cricket.

        • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

Damnit, I should have listened to Yesterday-Jim. Instead, I ventured off… and discovered that the sale (at least at Canal Walk) is a ruse.

I could go to Bayside today (instead of annoying Geoff on Skype), but to be honest I couldn’t give a damn now. I’ll just wait for the games to go platinum or pick them up next year on Kalahari’s Big mama sale.

    • http://twitter.com/Technikyle TechniKyle

I know right! This is the third sale I’ve seen in 2 days.

  • Sir Captain Rincethis

Playing Darksiders 2 at the moment, if you don’t have it people, GET IT! For R150, you have no excuse!

  • http://twitter.com/SaveTheQueenIX umar bastra

    ….shoo!!!

  • Zero-Cool

    DARKSIDERS 2!!!

    • Sir Captain Rincethis

      What a game hey?!

      • Purple_Dragon

Oh yes, I agree. I think it’s better than God of War Ascension, except graphics wise of course. Hell, I enjoyed this game far more than Ascension. Found Ascension a bit meh.

        • Sir Captain Rincethis

I finished Darksiders 1 last Friday, went straight into 2, WOW!

          • LordCaptainAwesomeness

Have you gotten all the DLC’s for it? makes it even noicer…

          • Sir Captain Rincethis

Which one? the first or second? I see there is quite a lot of content for the second, very tempted!

          • LordCaptainAwesomeness

            For the Second one….

          • Sir Captain Rincethis

Cool, will check it out. Worried that they will pull them, what with going under!

          • LordCaptainAwesomeness

            Go go Steam power….

      • Zero-Cool

Wouldn’t know, never played it because I didn’t feel like forking out R600 for it. Now is my time!

        • Sir Captain Rincethis

Yeah, I got mine for R250 on sale from BT. Get it man, you won’t be disappointed!

          • http://twitter.com/Technikyle TechniKyle

I’m still struggling to finish the first one… I just can’t connect! :(

          • Sir Captain Rincethis

In the words of the Crow: “Try harder, try again!”

    • caponeil

Cant get into the Game. Started it got bored after an hour. I am now trying to finish off GOW:A.

      • Deon Steyn

Now that is a game you don’t get bored in. Even the puzzles are creative and clever enough to not bore a person.

        • caponeil

Thanks. will try again. MIght be spending too much time playing games, so games might be the problem..

    • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

I want this game so bad… I smsed the missus to tell her… “LATE BIRTHDAY PRESENT… DARKSIDERS 2… INCREDIBLE CORRUPTION”

  • Sir Rants-a-Lot Llew

Is that Arkham City the GOTYE or simply standalone I wonder?

  • http://twitter.com/SaveTheQueenIX umar bastra

so much for picking up resident evil 6 lol

    • OVG

      :p

      • http://twitter.com/SaveTheQueenIX umar bastra

we all know RE 6 is a hidden gem

  • Deon Steyn

It’s a trap…. money must go to Bioshock. Payday where are you.

  • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

Balls man… I’m stuck at work, there’s no way I’ll get to Corruption in time :(

  • Tbone187

If they just sold games at these prices initially, there would be no need to pirate them…

    • Tetsuo

And there would be no games as all companies would go belly up!

      • Tbone187

Doubt that actually…Less profit but more turnover…May well balance out in the end…

        • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

I’ve always wondered about that, whether the current game price was decided on by those fancy supply and demand price curves, and whether a significant drop in price will actually leave companies belly-up – or actually more profitable?

Activision has clearly settled on the “greater demand means greater price point” principle, which is why COD games (console) sell for ~ R800 in South Africa (with equivalent prices in other territories), whereas everyone else go for ~R400 (except for the triple A big names, which go for just under R600). Gamers will pay a premium for titles that they consider to be “worth it”, but I wonder how sustainable that is? A high priced game means a gamer is less likely to pick up additional titles during the month, so those would be lost sales.

I really wish someone with their finger on the pulse of gaming economics could research this and do a write-up for LG.

          No not you Pachter… GTFO!

          • Purple_Dragon

Yeah, I agree. I’d like to know. I was a bit taken aback with the price of Tomb Raider and God of War ascension.

          • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

Yeah, I was going to get Tomb Raider, God of War and Bioshock this month, but damn… not a chance now. Each game is sitting in the almost R600 range (as opposed to the “normal” R400). With my cats heading to the vet next month, those games will have to wait for marked-down sales on Kalahari, Takealot or Incredible Corruption.

Fortunately,,, as an old codger, I have all the patience in the world!

          • Purple_Dragon

            Lucky cats!

          • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

Hey I’m the domesticated pet… those cats own me… :o

          • FoxOneZA

Backing up your statement is how can Makro sell games like Crysis 3 and GoW: A for R399.

          • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

Makro consistently has some great deals on games, especially new releases, and I honestly don’t know how they do it. Maybe they buy in bulk from overseas and side-step our local suppliers? Or maybe it’s the Wallmart effect – they buy at such a great volume (from the local suppliers) that they get the games dirt cheap…?

I’ll check this weekend at our local Makro and Game to see what their prices are for God of War and Tomb Raider.

  • DaxterZA

Had to put new wipers on my car, R350….so no games for me :-(

  • FoxOneZA

Mass Effect 3 for R99 Xbox or R49 on PC o.0

    • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

      Get both my good man!

      • FoxOneZA

The PC version works on KB and Mouse only so it shall be the Xbox version if there’s any stock left :/

  • Anon A Mouse

Crap, my closest IC is in Welkom. I don’t think they’ve even heard of these games yet. Could have done with a bit of Dishonored and Darksiders, heck even Syndicate at R99

    • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

lol, IC in the foreshore used to be like that. You’d walk in there, with the hopes of checking out some of the new releases and you’d find stuff (still on the shelves) from 5 years before. Apparently, the new store near Long or Loop is better, but I don’t have the energy to go all the way into town just to get trolled.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=797545095 Brett Gunter

Two stores later and I atleast got Dishonored for R150, thank you kindly!

  • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

Like the gullible fool that I am, I went to Canal Walk last night, only to discover that there was no sale. The staff didn’t even know about the “big sale”

Typical Incredible Corruption! Thanks for nothing.

  • Skyblue

Steam currently has the complete GTA catalog up for $12! Amazing deal!

  • wilson

I sent my brother to buy the killzone trilogy at Incredible Connection I think it was Canal Walk. I live in riversdale, the nearest shop is +-140 km away and he lives in cape town. When he arrived here today I checked the cases and all three are empty. Thanks for a great special!

    • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

      Yeah, typical Incredible Corruption.

I also went to Canal Walk (on what was supposed to be day one of the sale). and the first thing I did, was to ask the staff if there were still games left, and they looked at me with that vacant expression that generally says “you just got trolled by Incredible Corruption”. The missus and I checked in the back of the store where they keep all the games, and it was clear, Corruption was up to its old tricks again.

So, we went to Joe’s Diner. Got a burger, and then we got Skyfall from Musica. Felt like a dumbass, because I knew they were going to pull this again.
