Thanks to the deluge of new games this month – both for review and for personal pleasure – I’ve had to put Destiny very much on the back burner… at least until that extra content comes along. I had no intentions then, of killing things in the hope of getting better gear this evening. If that happened to be your plan, you may need to change it. Destiny’s servers will be offline for a spot of maintenance.
At 7 AM PDT, Destiny’s servers will be taken down for maintenance, and will be down, says Bungie, for “several hours.” According to my frankly terrible time calculations, that’s about 4pm here in South Africa, 2pm for those on the Greenwich Meridian. It means Destiny could still be out in the prime evening playing hours.
The maintenance should finally fix all of those connection errors that some of you have been experiencing, which means boars, bears, caterpillars, aye-ayes, sea turtles, plesiosaurs, pterodactyls, honey badgers, Lynxes and whatever other silly animal codes you’ve been subjected to should be a thing of the past.
Here’s what’s getting changed, fixed, and added:
Client fixes
- Added more data logging for matchmaking systems
- Improved connectivity failure handling to reduce beaver (Kick To Orbit events) KTOs
- Improved logging of player disconnections
- Internal tools fixes to speed up our release process
- Fixes to the roster system to allow us to tune the frequency of roster updates on Xbox One
- Fixed a bug that allowed users to quick scope on some weapons
Server Fixes
- Security fixes
- Server performance improvements
- Fixes to reduce the frequency of some KTOs
- Better logging to help diagnose connectivity problems
- Fixes to some Centipede errors that were exclusive to specific player characters
If not Destiny, what shall you be playing this evening? I’m busy playing Alien: Isolation. I’ll have a review up soon, but I can say that right now, it’s definitely better than Colonial Marines.

Diablo 3 CANT be offline… but the console guys get offline on all 4 consoles it’s released for. That’s just doff. Blizzard are a bunch of fuckers in this respect.
The lag you can get when playing alone is actually quite terrible, can make the game totally unplayable.

I had some lag last night, but it was sporadic and the game was still playable. I find that I sometimes have to remove all devices off the WiFi and restart my PC to remove lag, especially if I was playing anything on Steam.

Nah mate they are down this morning from what I saw on bungie.net they will be up tonight I am sure it is reset and peek time to play. Yeah I think we will get the raid down in one go if we have the same right people you know. I am awaiting on the clan page to see who can make it tonight but if we don’t do it tonight we can do Thursday so it’s cool I dont think we need more than a day now:)
