Project Cars Delayed Until 2015

Well that’s certainly not the way you’d like to kick off your weekend if you’re a racing fan. Project Cars, one of the most anticipated racing titles ever, isn’t going to be launching this year anymore. Instead, it’s suffered a bit of a delay.

NowGamer had the chance to eyeball a message sent to backers of the gamer detailing the delay. Not long afterwards an official backer confirmed the delay,  stating that Project Cars would now hit shelves  in March next year. The reason for the delay is to allow for extra polish, as well as steer the game away from the business holiday season dominated by larger AAA studios.

As part of a press release (which has yet to go officially public), Head of Studio Ian Bell had this to say:

Our goal has always been to deliver a landmark title that encompasses the wishes and desires of racing fans from all around the world; something with features and content powered by the community that provide a truly unforgettable and pioneering experience. Whilst a tough decision to make, the change in release date allows the game the greatest chance of success and visibility, and the opportunity to polish the game even further to the high standards that both ourselves and our community demand and expect. We’re eager for you all to see what we’ve been working on in just a few months.

Project Cars, which previously held a November release date, will now reach US shores on March 17th, while European racers will have to wait until the 20th. That’s for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC versions, with no confirmed date for the Wii U version just yet.

Did they go over the things that’s wrong with DriveClub and decided to double check their game?

Haven’t been this pissed since Tomb Raider was announced as an Xbone exclusive last month..

This generation sucks… It’s just full of “remastered editions” and delays….

Its only been a year and there are promising new IPs and new iterations. It takes time to learn a new state before they can push out bigger and better stuff. So they have parts of their studios doing remakes. Remember that maybe you played these games last Gen but some people haven’t. Not talking about resolution but some games are offering new content to the games remastered. Tomb Raider I can understand but its obvious MS is giving Square Enix Money and Support. Square Enix has had some financial trouble in the past few years. So if you want them to keep pulling then they need to make these deals and they need to keep pushing remasters. They have good games so remasters are worth it. As a gamer today its best that you look further than your wants.

I am totally ok with this and so is my wallet. Too many good games coming out in such a short period of time.

So sad 🙁 I can understand the delay but it still hurts. It’s probably for the best though as the holidays are jam-packed. Gotta put in the leave forms for March then, I know getting re-aquainted with Nordschleife will take at least a whole weekend. #NOSLEEPMARCH

Catching up with my steam games list and Civ V for me. Also that silly addiction called DotA. Aside from the expected real world event participation of course (like that silly event called Christmas).
