Because nobody asked for it! If there’s one game that fans have been asking for, it’s a proper console version of Pokémon, bringing open world catch ‘em all gameplay to a larger screen. That ain’t happening. Instead, you’re going to get a chance to properly battle with your Pokémon in Pokkén Tournament.
Co-developed in partnership with Tekken’s Katsuhiro Harada and Namco Bandai, the game was announced a few minutes ago on Japanese TV, the game will be out in 2015. "If you like Pokemon, anyone can enjoy this game," said Namco’s Harada. The Tekken Team head said that Pokken Tournament is actually "closer to an action game," and that Namco used its "know how" to develop the game. Expect more details soon.

This is a Japanese Arcade only game for now though… It’s a mystery if it will ever a) make it onto home consoles and b) reach the western world.
