GODUS

Peter Molyneux’s new independent 22 Cans has released its first “game,” Curiosity, that asks hundreds of thousands of people to tap at a giant block in the hope that their lives will change. It was oddly intriguing at first, but is now, quite possibly, the world record holder for The most boring thing in the whole world, ever. Molyneux recently begged for your money to help keep that oddity going – and now he wants your money again. Only this time, you might actually give it.

22Cans has just Kick-started a new project, an actual game – that looks to re-invent on of his first; the game responsible for much of his popularity in the first place; Populous.

Called Project GODUS, it’s "an innovative reinvention of Populous," and it sounds like the sort of thing that would have fans of his tenure as the head of Bullfrog explode in anticipation.

GODUS blends the power, growth and scope of Populous with the detailed construction and multiplayer excitement of Dungeon Keeper and the intuitive interface and technical innovation of Black & White.

that’s quite the lofty promise – and promises aren’t something Molyneux’s particularly good at keeping, Molyneux’s always been at his best with the god-game genre though, and this amalgamation of his best could just be the thing to help him regain a bit of credibility.

22 Cans is looking for £450,000 to make the game happen – and you can see details of what backers can expect – including a paid-for, VIP trip to E3 if you happen to pledge more than 5 000 squids, here.
