Michael Bay is too busy secretly writing Call of Duty games to be working on Battlefield games. Instead, EA saved some money and got the guy who did the Battleship movie to do Battlefield games. Plus, he’s already used to writing things with the word “battle” in them.

That seems a bit unfair. Everyone got beta access with BF4. 😛

Meh, it’s alright. I’ve played for 3-4 hours now. The level is way way way too small to really enjoy using a Sniper Rifle though, so I haven’t checked that out much. It really seems like the tech is the best way to go, though, it’s highly unlikely you’d have 1 guy running around a battlefield with an RPG AND a Surface to Air missile launcher, plus two guns.

The destructibility is decent, can punch through walls with breach charges (or armored vehicles), can destroy concrete railings w/ said armored vehicles. It’s not truly 100% destructible, but it’s alright I guess.

The heisting…if you can really call it that, is simply a pile of cash sitting in the middle of the playing area (in this case a small structure in downtown LA), and both sides basically fight for it. It’s not like Payday where you actually perform the heist, sometimes you run into cops, other times you do it 100% stealth. Basically just seems like CTF, with only 1 flag in the center.

Didn’t have any crashes though, no glitches I could discern. Seemed to run smoothly, never got DC’d, never had a problem finding a server, the game never crashed. I think there might be a clipping error in a hallway, but someone was talking about that in a game, rather than having experienced it myself.

The heisting sounds a lot like Bombing Run from UT2004.

It’s similar. Basically everyone starts on opposite sides a strip of, I want to say 4 blocks by 6 blocks maybe (I’ll have to double check that, I’m really not sure the exact size, but it feels so small). Each side has 2 copters, an attack APC with HE Rounds and twin 50 cals, then an armored SUV, and a smattering of Sedans, a muscle car and a couple of bikes.

Each side has a ‘vault’ (a swat van with the back open, in a parking garage). The entrances to the parking garage have entrance barricades that can be raised by pushing a button on the wall. The garages are 3-4 story, so there are ways to get in from above (helicopter, there’s a walkway you can drive through that has no barricade). Anyway, you can drive your armored vehicle in there and mess shit up for quite some time if you keep a good eye. Otherwise a breaching charge or an RPG will take you out pretty fast.

The money pile is in the center of the map in the entrance to a building that has an escalator that goes down. I say this because the interior is rather small but opens up a little down past the escalator. The point being the money space is cramped and open on every side…but the one where the escalator goes down (not that you could see ‘up’ the escalator across the room anyway).

So yeah, mad dash to the money, grab money, run back, drop it off. Rinse repeat. You can go to your opponent’s vaults however and steal their cash, so it’s fun to get raiding parties, grab the armored vehicles that have guns (the SUV has a mounted mini-gun). And lay waste to their vault area/parking garage.

So Bombing run with vehicles, limited weapons, ability to steal points and inability to pass the ball/cash.

The lack of loadout options sounds more like what I’d expect for a very early beta or late alpha, although I think it is early beta.

Well, you can pick up cash that a player dropped (due to death), but because one run to and from the pile to your vault won’t win you the round (current rounds are first group to 5 mil, each person can carry up to 500K at a time, and you can only withdraw in 100K bundles…though, the more people on your team that are at the pile when you’re taking cash, the faster you pick it up from the ‘loot pile’..picking up cash from a dead player is immediate).

But pretty much yes to the rest of it.

It’s basically counterstrike. But instead of getting to the bomb you get to the cash.

As much as i Loved playing BF3, never touched BF4, I feel my FPS fix will come from Destiny.
also i know exactly wahts going to happen with hardline.. ppl are going to play the smallest most compact Map for farming Kills and Xp. and all the Fun and Exciting modes and maps will be ignored. making the game boring.

Exactly.. All u get is DTM on Nuke town and Metro. and yes those maps are fun.. for the first 30 so times. BF has all these awesome choppers and tanks and every1 on a map in a subway. sniper and doing the ceiling glitch.. rather sad. if u wanna play a diffirent mode or map u gotta log on to the non Hardcore servers..

I think secretely everyone wants to play the other game modes, but no one is brave enough to start the match. Then you just end up clicking on tdm.

Yeah, I don’t hear a ton of communication in Hardline…well, actually I’ve heard maybe 1 or 2 people say anything the entire time. Highly abnormal from my experience in CoD 1 and 2, however, we had our own teamspeak server…so there was that.

Would’ve been cooler if it was only pistols and shotguns for half the match before the big guns come out. That is how a small bank robbery becomes a city wide war-zone. Anyway, even though I am a huge BF fan, not interested. I’ll rather wait for Rainbow Six.

It’s probably the in game currency used to acquire weapon upgrades.
They use $ because it is set in America (I think) which is of course the [sarcasm] greatest country with the most stable economy in the world so of course the black market weapons dealers only work in dollars. [/sarcasm]
