One-Punch Man is getting an anime adaptation

One Punch Man (2)

It’s a time of change in the anime and manga worlds. The mega-popular Naruto manga ended recently, and its anime counterpart isn’t far behind. Even Bleach will be drawing the curtain soon, with a new anime series presumably rapping up the current Wandenreich arc once it finishes. Fortunately, there’s a ton of other fresh manga out there to fill that void. And top of my list right now, is One-Punch Man. It’s a crazy series, that’s about to be adapted into anime form.

Wondering what the hell One-Punch Man is? The simple answer, is that it’s Japan’s version of Walker: Texas Ranger.

One Punch Man (1)

The far more accurate synopsis however, is that the manga chronicles the adventures of Saitama, an ordinary-looking bloke with a seemingly unintimidating profile. Saitama longs to be a hero who can help save the day and fight back against planetary-threats who would give the cast of Dragon Ball Z a run for their money. And the thing is, he totally can! Because no matter who his opponent is, Saitama has been able to defeat them with a single punch. It sounds awesome at first, but then you realise that Saitama has become incredibly bored with his overwhelming strength, which has resulted in battles that offer no real challenge and the fact that he is never acknowledged for the feats that he has achieved.

What could have been a boring anime however quickly gets interesting when Saitama takes on a disciple, the cyborg Genos, who is also working to be a hero. It’s one of my favourite mangas available right now, thanks not only to some great art, but to some restrained art as well. In an announcement in Shueisha’s Young Jump magazine (Via ANN), it was announced that an anime adaptation has been greenlit. Bandai Visual will announce the cast and crew behind the series, next week on March 21 and 22.

Originally a webcomic from ONE, the idea for One-Punch Man was adapted further in 2012 by Yuusuke Murata. Both creators will help produce the adaptation. One punch guys. ONE PUNCH!

  1. I generally love my crazy anime and manga but this was too much for me hahaha. Think I got about 8 chapters into the manga and I just couldn’t anymore.

I’ll give it another shot as an anime though.

Now if only they would start animating more manhwa, “The Breaker” and “The Breaker, New Waves” really needs to get a damn show @_@.

I would love to see more manhwa. Korean manga has a very unique art style and way of conveying a story. They’re also obsessed with high school teenagers that are adept at martial arts lol Like even Noblesse had Shinwoo who was like a martial arts god. But man, I would love for Breaker to be adapted into an anime, the fight scenes in there is just crazy.

fight scenes in one punch man are better than breaker imo, short, but awesome, especially in the later chapters, if they can stretch the episodes out with fight scenes, this could be really good.

push through, once it gets going, its fantastic, art style and contrast between dumb and awesome makes for serious entertainment.
its pretty much at the top of my list of manga atm, i consider it to be Psyren level good.

no idea when they’ll start with manwha, the breaker series is crazy good.
i find it funny how different the different styles are between korean manwha, you get the crazy detailed and stylised stuff like Breaker and Veritas, but then you get this almost cartoon style of stuff like noblesse, the gamer and god of highschool.

love this manga, stumbled upon it a year or so ago, love how stupid it is, but the art was done so seriously in the remake, drawn by the same guy that did eyeshield21, with the dumbest and most OP main character ever.

anime for it? rad, but doesnt really matter, the art in the manga is so damn good/contrasted with so damn dumb, the anime will have to be awesome to compete.

You know wuts funny is that its not a monthly manga. Idk if the author maybe release a chapter whenever the hell he wants or if he just started doing it monthly, but I got into it during the first few chapters and those updated weekly. Its like later on down that the time between releases just started increasing or something

happens with alot of manga lately. especially the korean stuff.
Theres usually a release date mentioned at the end of each chapter though.

The Artist does it as a personal hobby I think, He also live streams himself drawing it, which is awesome.
He apologizes under his breath in Japanese a lot as he draws, kinda funny in a neurotic way ^^

that practise fight with genos, when theyr slideshowed with music like in this vid, looks so fasdgafing epic

even if the music does break with the tone of the actual manga.

still feels like we need a proper storyline and antagonist in it though, something that gives the series a bit more punch.
