Halo 4 may be more tailored towards multiplayer, but at least it doesn’t cut any corners in that department. There’s a ton of game modes on offer, from your standard Slayer team and free for all matches, through to the ever hilarious take on foosball, Griefball. And now, there’s some new match-making content on the way.

Developer 343 Industries says that new modes will be arriving next week, and will include new takes on free for all challenges for Oddball and King of the hill, as of Monday. They’ll be part of a new solo playlist, that uses the maps Haven, Abandon, Adrift, Complex and Solace with which to practice socially inept face-blasting skill.

Oddball requires 100 points for a win, while solo King of the hill needs 50 points to secure victory. Halo Waypoint’s Jessica Shea said of the new modes to OXM, “If you’ve been dominating these modes with teammates, see how the game changes when it’s every Spartan for themselves”.

Sounds like a challenge. And speaking of free for all, I’ll be taking on Geoff and several others tonight in round 2 of the local Halo 4 tournament. Will I succeed? Will I prove that my Halo trigger finger is better than my Limerick-minded brain?

Tonight…it’s on!
