New 4K GTA V screenshots for the 7 of you with 4K screens

GTA V is coming to PC this month. No, really, it is. This time, I actually believe the release date. In two weeks, on April 14, PC gamers will finally get to play Rockstar’s criminal jerk simulator, Grand Theft Auto V. Unfortunately that date coincides with Mortal Kombat X’s release date, so I know what I’ll be doing that day.

Still, if you’ve been patiently waiting since September 2013 to play the game on PC, your day is coming soon. To celebrate, Rockstar’s released a fresh batch of screenshots from the PC version of the game – and they’re 4K shots, for the seven of you who have the hardware necessary to run it at that resolution. PC is, naturally, where the game will look best, because even if it isn’t too far removed from the new-gen console versions, modders will change that as they did with GTA IV.

Funnily enough, the new consoles versions of the game don’t even look as good as they used, with patch 1.08 removing many of the modern post-processing effects that make the game look good. The newest patch, 1.09 did little to fix the “downgrade.” Rockstar has since called it a glitch, that it was something they were aware of, and that a fix was on the way.

GTA V is probably my favourite game in the series after Vice City, but that probably has a lot to do with the fact that I grew up in the 80’s.

Take a look at those screens:

Have to admit, despite me not enjoying GTA at all, those screenshots do look lovely.

Just curious, why not? Not my sort of game, but I loved most of it.

I get bored pretty quickly with the sandbox nature of the game. Well, this kind of sandbox – the hijacking and killing and bla bla bla. Just doesn’t keep me entertained for long. I’m more of an adventure kind of sandbox – give me undiscovered worlds, the tools I need or can acquire, and let me loose. 😛

I played a lot of the missions and did little of the exploring, beyond a drive through to sort of open the map. I also get bored, but like Skyrim there were enough interesting side missions to keep me going for days of play time, over months.

Welcome to the wonderful world of DayZ. I recently built a nice base for my companions and some buggers used a chopper to GTA all our vehicles from our garage. Now I built a roof with anti personnel mines on top for added protection. 😛

Nah it ain’t that bad. Arma3 Epoch (the current flavour of the day) is actually quite civil. You get the odd asshat here and there but so far we have more issues dealing with AI.

You have an excellent point there! I struggled with Skeeryme though, it got to a point where I actually had to finish it as quickly as possible because of it being this tedious long fetch quest nonsense…

I was thinking more No Man’s Sky, or Terraria, or Grav – games like that. Skyrim is just an open world RPG, not a sandbox. 🙂

True… but every single open world game, RPG or not suffers from the same problem, fetch quests…. I mean how many times can you scrape some mythical moss off of a dying trolls scrotum?

This I agree with completely. Which is why I prefer the sandbox nature of say Terraria. They’re like: “Here’s some wooden tools. Now go. Do whatever you want.”

It’s a good play-through once. After that your money is better spent elsewhere.

If only they focused on the driving a car and bike part of the game. GTA 4 driving just needed some turning and the bikes in Lost and Damn was perfect. GTA 4 Dukes and Tampa was so fun to drive in GTA 4.
GTA 5 has lost that fun aspect with driving. GTA meets Midnight Club. Don’t we already have a game like that, it’s called Sleeping Dogs, Saints Row meets Need for Speed.

Plus R700+ for a DRM game. I’m not crazy. Social Club. Fuck that.

Don’t Support DRM. The Witcher 3 open world map is coming. R499 for a Non-DRM game, sounds about right.

I…Uhm…Oigh… As much as it is a DRM game, it’ll probably be Steam and I really don’t mind that….

I think saying is “ok” is sort like a red flag, waving in the wind, becoming the focus, the locus and the target, exclusionary vision.

            Or something.

I personally hated the driving in Sleeping Dogs, enjoyed it in SR3 though. That being said, I don’t have a problem with the driving the GTA5.

Speaking about 4k TVs… Takealot is selling one RIGHT NOW. But don’t buy it! Samsung Series 8 4k or GTFO. For real, that series 7 is the worst TV in existance.

The attention to detail in this game is just….Whuuuhhh…. I am absolutely fascinated… If you have a 4k screen, the size of, I don’t know, the Andromeda galaxy, and you were sitting with your nose against it you will notice that the skyscrapers reflect off of the side mirrors on Franklins’ car… Needless to say that if you have a screen smaller than that or if you were sitting anything further than that you’d probably not even notice it at all… which kind of makes it useless to have such a powerful machine and a screen that size…
