MotoGP

It’s time. Time to sit on a 1000cc engine of angry horsepower and genital-searing potential, as you hit the track and take your pocket rocket for a spin. It’s time for a whole new generation of motorcycle action on more powerful hardware. Unfortunately you’ve got Milestone developing the latest iteration of the MotoGP franchise, so prepare for more of the same, yet again.

Milestone will be hitting the saddle again this year for MotoGP 15, which will be a PlayStation 3 and 4 exclusive. According to the developer, there’ll be 20 different bike models with 40 different liveries to choose from in case you haven’t gotten sick yet of seeing Honda Repsol-coloured 125 bikes blitz past you at the traffic lights.

Customisation will also apparently be a key factor in this iteration, as riders will have more than 100 accessory items and three different types of motorhome (Basic, Mid-range, and Top-range) to purchase with GP Credits which can earned in online and offline races. Here’s the first flashy trailer for the game:

Rider customisations will also include:

  • Physical attributes
  • Race suits
  • Boots
  • Gloves

And of course, a proper career mode. Players will start off as a wild card rider and work their way through various races, teams and sponsorships in the 2015 championship. One new idea being tossed in Beat Down mode. Players can earn extra points by showing off their skills on a specific bike in order to set a lap record. The game looks ok, but I’m not expecting anything beyond that.

Milestone makes an adequate MotoGP game, but they’re hardly instant classics. It’s also not the only motorcycle game that Milestone has coming out this year, as RIDE also drops a gear change into April.

I won’t mind a bit of genital searing. I miss the Superbike series. Kyalami was pretty wicked in SBK 2001
