Lords of the Fallen 2 is already in development

I’m pretty terrible at playing any of From Software’s Souls games, even though I own all of them. Curiously I haven’t yet tried Lords of the Fallen, which was widely considered as a milder, less punishing take on the genre. It’s a game that was content with sitting in Dark Souls’ shadow, but that can all change with the game’s sequel.

Despite only launching a few weeks ago, Lord of the Fallen’s sequel is already in the conceptual and design phase of development, with Executive producer Tomasz Gop confirming as much with Eurogamer. So there’s nearly nothing to go on at this stage, other than the fact that it’s coming.

With a sequel, Lords of the Fallen has a golden opportunity to start standing out on its own. It’s already got a foot in the door on current-gen consoles and PC, so now’s the perfect time for it to start introducing some unique elements into the mix so that it can break free from it’s “easier Souls game” shackles.

The sequel also has a great chance to capitalise on From Software’s next game, Bloodborne. While it’s looking incredible, it’s only going to be on PS4, leaving PC and Xbox One fans craving for similar new experiences – the perfect market for Lords of the Fallen 2.

Did you pick up the game when it launch in October, and are you excited at the prospect of a different, more unique sequel? Or are this brutally difficult RPGs not your cup of gaming tea?

Same here. Their moving too fast with this unless it’ll take 2 years to develop the next one and polish it up well

After looking at some Bloodborne gameplay videos, being a PS4 exclusive does not even phase me. Looks very boring.

Lords of the fallen on the other hand, looks cool and I really want to get into it but first it is DA: I 😉

This game can easily be top tier with just a bit more polish

I bought the first one and I’m actually really enjoying it so far. Definitely not as challenging as Dark Souls (the 1st), but it’s still right up there – this ain’t no cake walk (particularly in the first few hours when your character, although looking tough, is far from it). I must say – a really good, solid game – with no bugs encountered so far (and only a 300mb Day 1 patch… Best of the year, if I’m not mistaken).

Yeah… It’s kinda sad we’re so used to it already, that we consider a game with a small patch to be the better one… There should be NO patches!

You got bread & clean water? Oh look at him, the FANCY MAN! All we got was melted snow. Sometimes if we were lucky it was icy so we could pretend to be eating.

Hahaha even the PSP can now do that without any hitch!!! It is the one area console makers have let things slip – I fully understand that patches are a part of life for us now, developing games is complicated, etc.

But when your patch is 40GB (yes AC : Unity I am looking at you)[I know its a bug] then I blame developer, publisher and console maker.

This trailer pissed me off really….Because his story is NOWHERE near this fleshed out or deep. The story goes nowhere for a large portion of the game and is pretty flat

I’m a big fan of LotF. True, it lacks the difficulty of the Souls games (during the first playthrough, at least), and the lack of variety in the setting leaves a bit to be desired, but it still plays like a dream. The sense of weight from your character, his armour, his weapons, and the enemies is something that so few games get right, but LotF nails it. Plus the cloth physics and particle effects are pretty, haha.
Hopefully, with the sequel, they can add enough polish to lift it from being a good game to being a great game.
