Fablejourney

When Microsoft debuted Fable: the Journey at E3, something former Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux called a “horrendous mistake,” it came across as the sort of experience that’s begun to define Kinect – a wholly on-rails affair. It’s going to be tricky for Lionhead to convince gamers that it’s anything but, though it is trying its best.

In revealing the game’s box art, the development team has tried to push the game as a serious game for serious gamers.

“The box art signifies that we are working on a game now that will appear in shops all over the world and this is how you are going to spot Fable: The Journey in local retailers,” the team said on Lionhead’s site. Needless to say we are very proud of it!  If you own a Kinect – or are planning on buying one in the near future – and you are a serious gamer who doesn’t want to jump around their living room, then this is the game to look out for.  Today we are revealing the box art for Fable: The Journey in all its glory.”

The Journey is Molyneux’s last game for Lionhead before he leaves on his own grand adventures. He says that Fable; The Journey will “more engrossing, and more emotional than any control-based game or any Fable game has ever been before.” I’m actually keen to give it a go – mostly just to see if somebody can make Microsoft’s motion-sensor do any of the things we were promised. Kinect Star Wars certainly didn’t.
