Tonight we host the finals of the Lazygamer Advanced Warfare tournament and I hope you are going to join us in the stream (Click here for the link) to watch because if these matches are anything like the semi finals were on Wednesday, it’s going to be a cracker. The first match will be the 3rd and 4th place between ExiLe Gaming vs Snow Gaming at 20:00 CAT and the 1st place finals Insane Gaming vs eN F34R will be at 21:00 CAT. For those that didn’t join us, here is a rundown/recap on how hotly contested the matches were.

Insane Gaming vs ExiLe Gaming

Once we managed to get everyone in lobby we kicked off the match with ExiLe choosing Retreat as the hardpoint map. At the start Insane grabbed an early point lead with the first hardpoint but ExiLe showed dominance in the second hardpoint taking the lead back from Insane and so this match continued with no team pulling away completely. With the last 46 seconds to go both teams had 161 points each and it going down to the last hardpoint. Insane had done an early rotation with R34P_-LuMm3RzZ sitting in the hardpoint. ExiLe_Munkii and ExiLe_Miki managed to do a huge push and slay out the Insane team to capture the hardpoint. But R34P_-LuMm3RzZ and ayrton_dossie_ had other plans who after quick respawn, rushed and recaptured the hardpoint which was then flooded by the whole Insane team. ExiLe unfortunately had bad spawn and were too far out to co-ordinate a full team push. Insane managed to grab the remaining points and won the map 194 – 164.

The Search and Destroy match was next with Insane picking Recovery as the map choice where bomb site A was the preferred plant site by both teams. Insane started off strong, winning the first two rounds conceding only 1 death. But ExiLe were not going to go down so quickly and managed to mount a small comeback picking up the next two rounds tying it up 2 all. Insane then went on to dominate the remaining rounds with dropping only 1 round and finishing it out at 6-3.

With Insane having a 2-0 map count lead on ExiLe, ExiLe chose Comeback as the Uplink map to literally try mount their comeback. This map is a fast paced small map which has proven to be either a run away for one team or closely contested match and these teams did not disappoint. Insane again picked up an early lead with Cherry_Frost doing an amazing run through the middle with the satellite ball scoring 2 points in the first 30 seconds. ExiLe_Munkii responded almost immediately picking up the satellite on respawn, throwing it towards Insane’s portal picking up a kill on the defender then casually picking up the ball to jump through the portal for 2 points. By the end of the first half the teams were tied up 5 all. The second half proved to be just as exciting with amazing offensive and defensive strategies played out by both teams. ExiLe were first to score managing a 1 point throw. With 1 minute and 30 seconds left Insane managed to finally break the ExiLe defense with ayrton_dossie_ scoring a 2 point dunk and taking the lead 7-6. With the final minute counting down ExiLe tried hard to break the Insane defense by throwing everything they could. The best opportunity they had was a hail Mary throw by ExiLe_Gokku who unfortunately just missed the 1 point needed to tie up the game. Insane closed up the game and won the semi final 3-0 in what was a very closely contested match.

 eN F34R vs Snow Gaming

Some thought this might be a complete walk over by F34R being the number 1 team on the XBox One but Snow gaming proved to not be as easy as some had predicted. Snow had first map choice for the Hardpoint and went with Bio Lab. F34R took an early lead but Snow managed to pull it back tying the score up at 47 all by the 4th minute and then going on to take a 30 point lead. F34R didn’t take kindly to this and by the 6th minute tied up the score at 71 all. As the time ticked down F34R would pull away in points only to be met by an aggressive Snow team fighting hard to pull it back. With 1 minute left to the round F34R were in the lead by 9 points and it came all down to the last hardpoint. Snow managed to gain early control and close the gap to 3 points with 30 seconds left. But once again a well co-ordinated attack by the F34R team led by F34R_JAKEZ they managed to slay out the Snow team who unfortunately got bad spawn. In the end F34R took the map 209-195. I must just mention that F34R_FROST got 51 kills to 25 deaths showing amazing skill for such a young player and definitely a contributing factor to F34R taking the first map.

Next up, F34R chose Riot as the map for the Search and Destroy with teams favouring the A plant site. There were a lot of great plays made by both teams with some of the best sniping I’ve seen. It didn’t seem there would be a clear cut winner with some predicating a round 11 as the teams kept exchanging rounds. It came down to round 9 with F34R needing 1 more round win to finish it out. Snow were attacking and decided on doing a slow B bomb site plant which ultimately proved fatal for them. In quick succession 3 Snow members were dropped leaving  tree_season as last man alive in a 4v1. F34R converged on him and closed out the map with a 6-4 win.

Comeback was once again chosen as the uplink map by Snow and was definitely the right pick for Snow in this David and Goliath battle. Right at the start Snow managed to score 2 points within 20 seconds as F34R had completely rotated around the wrong side of the map leaving their portal and satellite ball open. What then proceed to happen in this game is indescribable and left us commentating speechless, you would need to watch a replay of this game. An uplink round is 5 minutes long and will be cut short if a team hits the score limit of 10 points. Snow managed to score 11 points in 3 minutes and 22 seconds with F34R only scoring 2. This had now set the timer to 3 minutes and 22 seconds for F34R to try score the same amount of points or more in the 2nd half. The game closed out with Snow winning the game with impressive 17 to 4.

Going into the 4th map with a 2-1 map count lead, F34R chose Retreat for Capture the Flag. After the 1st minute, F34R_DREW got a quick flag capture running down the pool side to which TheDayDreamerr from Snow responded with a capture using an almost identical path run. At the end of the first round F34R had a 3-2 lead over Snow. At this point you could see there was a noticeable switch in the F34R players strategy and gameplay. They absolutely dominated Snow in the 2nd half, showing why they are the number one team. F34R finished out the match with a 5-2 win and secured their semi final win 3-1 in map count.

Considering how these two matches went and how close they were, I am excited for tonight’s finals. Who do you think is going to take it?
