Is this the new Xbox Boss?

Earlier this week, Xbox head Don Mattrick announced his surprise departure from Microsoft, and his even surprisier move to becoming CEO of mobile and social gaming company Zynga. Rumour and supposition suggest it was because of the botched Xbox One reveal, but sources say it really has more to do with an internal Microsoft re-organisation that Mattrick wanted no part of.

It’s left sweaty, porcine-faced Microsoft boss Steve Ballmer in charge of everything for the moment, with Microsoft scrambling to find a suitable replacement. One may have already been found, in current Head of Windows Product Development Julie Larson-Green – who’ll oversee all hardware, including Xbox and the Surface Tablets.

And while this absolutely isn’t about gender issues within the videogame industry, it would be quite refreshing to see a woman in such a prominent position in videogames, delivering those E3 and Gamescom keynotes. Larson-Green has been with Microsoft for two decades, and while she possibly doesn’t know very much about videogames, she has to have a little more stage persona than Don Mattrick (who also really seemed to know little about games).

She has to, right?

Yeah she’s done such a great job with Windows 8, what could possibly go wrong. *chuckle* Either way, hopefully the ship is righted and we see some good competition in the next gen. Always makes for a better industry (even if the sides get a tad heated at each other).

Well, if she’s the current Windows product boss, then I would assume she was integral in 8 also (then again, the old saying about assumptions probably stands to reason there).

Windows 7 on the other hand…definitely like it, though, not a fan of the ~145 updates you have to install when rebuilding a system heh.

Ugh that is the WORST. Also, Murphy’s Law states that it will happen when you wanted to leave the office early.

My favourite part is when it pops up the restart PC dialogue box with yes pre-selected for you… just as you’re pressing enter for something else.

I’m not sure which is worse, the old way of not letting you install beyond the point where a restart was needed, or the new way of installing everything and then realizing over the course of a day or two that 10+ restarts are needed with long ‘finishing installations/configuring windows’ in between.

I know, either way it hurts. And everyone has the same attitude when they see that updates are available ” Maybe if I ignore it, it will go away..”

Her resume seems perfect for the task at hand but I’m not to keen on having WIndows and Xbox merge. I like gaming on either platforms but each has it’s own role to play.
