Is Eye of Azshara the next Hearthstone expansion?

Azshara (1)

Hearthstone has come a long way in the last year. From an experimental stab at an alternative genre with a smaller development crew, the game has blossomed into a fun (and profitable) experience over at Blizzard. It’s also a game with a surprising amount of longevity, as Hearthstone is still sitting pretty with gamers. And that’s thanks to some new content in the form of the Curse of Nik Nax. So what’s next for Hearthstone? A visit to other lands by the looks of things.

Blizzard has filed a trademark for “Eye of Azshara” according to MMO Champion. If you’re unfamiliar with how Eye of Azshara fits into the Warcraft lore, here’s a neat synopsis from Hearthpwn:

If you aren’t familiar with World of Warcraft, Azshara is a Zone which sits in North Eastern Kalimdor, right above Orgrimmar. In the Cataclysm expansion, the zone was redesigned and with it came a large island in the center of the zone which was inhabited by the Goblins. It was called Bilgewater Harbor. This island sitting in the middle of the bay in Azshara resembles an eye when you look at it on the map.

A recent client patch for Hearthstone also introduced a new card back, titled Goblin. Community members have also received new blueprints in their mail, that feature a mechanical theme:

Azshara (1)

Azshara (4)

Azshara (3)

Azshara (2)

Eye of Azshara could also mean that the next expansion will be more focused on Goblins then, as well as the Naga, Horde and Night Elves that inhabit that zone in World of Warcraft. With BlizzCon kicking off this weekend, I’d be surprised to not see any Hearthstone announcement. Then again, prepare for quite a bit of salt-pinching, in the lead-up to this event.

I know what you’re thinking, “did he scramble 6 eggs or only 5?”

Hearthstone is close to unplayable with my 8ta connection 🙁 Frequent disconnects, which can be disastrous in Arena play…

I had the same issue with my 8ta. 8ta wouldn’t even know it disconnected. I could download at 8mb/s, but trying to attack on hearthstone took 5 seconds to register, per minion… My 1mb/s iburst worked better for hearthstone.

Pretty good. Animations are smooth. Only notice animation lag and jittering when the internet connect is weak.

Are you able to play with an iPad in the tournament or does it have to be PC based?

No, if you turn the map sideways, the area has been terraformed to look like the Horde Symbol.
