How you’ll be able to import saves to The Witcher 3

How saves work with The Witcehr 3.jpg

If The Witcher 3 didn’t have your attention yesterday, then I’m pretty sure it did after seeing 15 brand new minutes of gameplay late last night. CD Project RED have outdone themselves on the new consoles, but face a pretty serious issue. Previous Witcher titles weren’t on the Xbox One and PS4, so how are players meant to get their precious, decision storing saves across?

That’s a question I never really considered, but thankfully I’m not the one in charge of things like that. The person who is clearly got it right, and during a livestream last night CD Projekt RED briefly detailed how players of the previous Witcher titles will be able to get their saves across. And it’s actually quite smart.

Not unlike Dragon Age Keep, The Witcher III will feature an event at the beginning of the game where man retells the story of monster hunter Geralt of Rivia. During this stage you’ll be able to correct the bard, with a section of choices from the previous two games being presented as options. This will then craft The Witcher III into a tale that organically fits in with your previous adventures, even though they weren’t available on this generation on consoles.

As for PC, well the standard method applies. If you have a save file from previous Witcher titles, you’ll be able to import them without any issues. So make sure you have the playthrough you want on hand before starting the concluding chapter.

CD Projekt RED also used this time to confirm the resolutions and framerate for The Witcher 3 on consoles. The PS4 will be the superior copy, running at 1080p and 30FPS, while the Xbox One version will be scaled back to 900p. PC players get all the “p’s” they want, as per usual.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out on May 19th, on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. I simply can’t wait anymore.

He has given the same name to everyone of his horses lol, apparently in polish it’s a shortening of a female name and Geralt almost always chooses a mare.

Dandelion will sing the tales of The Witcher. He might be wrong and The Witcher can correct his tales. Save import based on your memory or you can change your memory to whatever events you like. Simple and cool idea.

There is a lot of, Don’t Support CD Projekt RED, Don’t Support The Witcher 3, Support DRM, DRM4life, ect. Which is fine to troll me. But I wonder when new people goes through these witcher comments and the message they take away from here.

If I need to stop to curb these types of messages then I need to stop. I am the reason for it.

If you love something, you got to let it go. But DRM won’t allow you to let it go.

Hmmm… tbh, I ignore most of your comments because you say the same thing. Ever heard of the boy who cried wolf? It’s the same risk SA runs with HIV education, eventually people tune out the message because we hear it every. single. day.

I don’t mind DRM, I understand the need for it. How it’s implemented is the all important factor.

By not supporting DRM you do yourself, as a gamer, a disservice. You limit your options significantly. I want to play games, and I want to play AAA games.

      My 2c.

Unless you go to every single person in South Africa and educate them about HIV and AIDS, you not going to reach everybody. That is why the message gets repeated on radio, tv, magazines, ect. because there will always be some1 new to reach.
Just because you have heard it a million times doesn’t mean every single person has heard it.

Same thing applies. Just because you love DRM and found a need for it, doesn’t mean it’s for everybody and has a need for everybody.
Just because you have heard it over and over again doesn’t mean that everyone has heard it. You accept DRM for the games but look at the AAA games that’s being released.

There are so many factors that DRM affects that never gets mentioned.

anyway fuck it. the boy cried wolf? so drm and no witcher coming, and it’s going to be a bad game.

        the wolf is drm.

Thanks, I’ve worked in advertising for over 10 years now, I know why people use repetition. I also know that it sometimes has the opposite effect of your intentions. That’s what I’m saying. You seem to have been thrown off by my example.

EDIT: Have you noticed how your message has become a little inside joke? That’s the first sign people aren’t taking your message seriously.

So because the HIV and AIDS campaign has been so out there and those people who constantly hears and sees that campaign will now say fuck condoms and never use condoms again. opposite effect. YA.

I don’t try to be serious on here. I don’t want to be taken seriously. I like to say Don’t Support DRM because I feel that games at retail shouldn’t have DRM. With that saying I’ve said a lot stupid shit. I like that type of stupid shit. That’s why I do it.

I don’t mind to be trolled. But when that trolling becomes statements that could influence those that don’t get the meaning behind it.

I want The Witcher 3 to sell well. I’ll have to leave it you to spread the positive message. You meaning all of you.

It will most likely be there for those who want to change past events (change their saves). Everyone buying the PC might not have played the previous games. So it should be there.

The publication stated that PlayStation 4 version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is running at 1080p/30FPS and has minimally sharper texture than Xbox One, and is slightly less sharper texture than the “High” Setting On PC.

Looks like the “Next Gen” consoles are already seeing its age. High settings 900p at 30fps no thank you.

    OK this sounds good.

But what if it’s been years since I played Witcher II and I can’t exactly remember every single choice I’ve made?

Is it really that impossible in this day and age to just upload your saves somewhere and have the game on ps4 read that file and shape everything automatically? I’m a software engineer and I’m pretty sure this is not such a big deal…

But anyway, is there a way to check my choices apart from buying the game for PC too and importing the saves to remember all the decisions I have made? O_o
